Hey, the Music Dept. in my school (the band and chorus; I am in the chorus) is taking its annual trip to Florida in mid-May (the date is still tentative). I have been doing P90x for about three weeks and I am pleased with the amount of weight I have lost so far. However, since we will be staying in a hotel, I can't do any of the workouts with jumping moves or else it will disturb people in the room below me and I do not have any means of doing the pull-up moves with resistance bands. Moreover, my classmates and I most likely will not be going to the healthiest of places to eat (I was told that we are going to Golden Corral for breakfast and we will be eating every day in the park). Yet, we will be walking all day so I know that will burn a lot of calories. Do you think I will gian weight during my trip? Also, is there anyway I can still do some of my P90x workouts while I am there?

I'm having this same problem with my job. I am having to get up early to go to work, not to mention the amount of walking I do all day. I just really manage food intake.
Try going for a walk or go somewhere and do a few p90x moves. The key is watching your diet,0 -
I am not worried about walking, we will be in the park like 8-10 hours and we are walking at least 80% of the time. If anything, I can do any of the P90x workouts that don't involve a lot of jumping (or doesn't have any). I am mainly concerned about the food just because I don't think there is a lot of healthy food in the parks. Hopefully they will have a few places with healthier options or I will have to portion my "junk" food so I am still within my caloric limit.0

Check with the motel and see if they have "exercise center". Chances they do. Even the crummy ones have room for a basic aerobics. If you can jump rope, take one. There should be healthy options at G. Corral hidden among the bad ones. My guess is that there are good options in the park also. Disneyworld? If so look for asian fast food options.0

Golden Corral's website has their menu and nutrition info online, so you can get some idea of what to expect from there before you go. Is your hotel one that provides little fridges and microwaves in the rooms? If so, maybe you could bring along a few healthy snacks to keep in the room so that even if you eat some things that aren't the best during the day you will have some healthy things in the evening. Fruit or something. Also check and see if the hotel has some kind of exercise facility, lots of them do even if it's only a treadmill, but some have weight machines too. Also, what park are you going to? For some reason I was assuming you meant Disney World but I then realized you didn't actually say that. But probably you can find the place online and get an idea of places to eat there, and get some idea of what might be best. It's hard not to go astray a little when on vacation but it doesn't have to be disastrous. And have fun, I wish I was going to Florida.0

Our Music Dept. is staying in the Ramada Inn (I think there is a fitness facility) and yes sorry I meant Disney World. We are going to the four major parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios) and Blizzard Beach. I have been researching the menus for each of the parks. Some of them seem to offer healthier options like grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken wraps, and salads. As for the fitness center, we generally get back to the hotel late from the parks and usually if we go somewhere (the pool, fitness center, lobby, etc...) usually a teacher has to go with us which is pretty annoying lol.0

Well you'll be doing a looooot of walking. That will be good. And I'm sure most of those restaurants there offer healthier options. You could take a resistance band with you and even if you can't do the normal things you'd do with P90x (which I actually know nothing about), you could still keep up some sort of resistance exercise during your vacation.0

I wouldn't worry about it too much, don't go absolutely crazy on food and you should be fine.
Last time I was there I had plenty of ice cream, desserts, fried food etc and I don't think I gained anything. Granted it was before I started here so I was already pretty overweight but just the amount of walking helped a ton.
If you want to do a bit more there are always things like pushups that can be done in a hotel room even if you can't get to the fitness center.
As for what you have for food options I'm guessing your going to be stuck going to whatever places everyone else wants to (if they won't let you go to a hotel fitness center on your own I doubt they are letting you wander the parks on your own) So just try to pick the best of what is available. I know alot of places will let you get fruit instead of dessert and stuff like that.0 -
You are right, we are not allowed to go anywhere alone. We are required to walk throughout the parks in groups of at least 4 people so most likely I will have to go wherever the group decides to go. I guess I will just go where the majority wants to go and choose the healthiest option from the given dining area. You are also right about the walking, we will be walking a lot lol. I will definitely burn a lot of calories doing that.0

when you find out what hotel you're staying out, see if they have a fitness room. most of them are small...a treadmill, bike, elliptical, and maybe a few free weight machines. if you know your schedule for your trip, see about fitting in a few workouts in there...or go for a walk. drink lots of water and try to maintain your food intake. see if there is a teacher/chaperone that you can text to say hey...I'm going to the fitness center. I will be there for 30 minutes...and let them pop in on you and make sure you're there, and then let them know when you're back in your room or something. you can do it !0

I will try that though I will need to find out from my teachers if I am even allowed in the gym (apparently students were not allowed when we went on a trip to Cleveland last year).0

I find anytime I'm away from home my biggest problem is watching my diet (I mean what I'm eating not the other diet diet). It really is hard when you have to eat in restaurants. Just get some fruit and keep it in your room and if your walking alot then just keep your eyes on the prize.0
