How many strides in a mile on a typical elliptical?

It depends on the stride length. When I use the elliptical for 60 minutes it says I have gone about 8000 strides and about 5 miles, so that's about 1600 strides per mile for me.0

It depends on your pace.
The machine should tell you. Most of them track that.
If you want to know i mile exactly just do one mile then stop and see the workout summary.0 -
mine just tells me stride and nothing else distance related.

I think it depends on your settings. The elliptical machines at my gym have a setting called "crossramp" which changes the motion from a flat horizontal stride to increase motion in the vertical direction (simulating an incline). If you are moving only in the horizontal plane your strides will be longer. When a portion of the movement is in the vertical plane (which happens when you choose an incline setting), the distances "travelled" in the horizontal direction will be shorter.0
