Has anyone participated in one of these before? Or is there anyone interested in signing up? I want to do this so bad! I live in North Carolina, so the one in Maryland would be the closest to me. All of my friends who are into Zombie-inspired entertainment are not into fitness, so I'm having a hard time finding anyone to go with! It would be cool to have someone or a group to meet up with that day and be tourists after the run.
Also, anyone who has ran a 5K, do you know of any kind of training that could help me better prepare for the event? I recently downloaded an "ease into 5k" android app and plan on doing that for the next 10 weeks.
Thanks!

I'm not participating, but I do have an interest in zombies and running. I'm waiting for this app to come out on Android https://www.zombiesrungame.com/
Hope you find someone to join you on the race. It looks like fun!0 -
WOW! That app looks like tons of fun! Thanks!!0

Hahaha! I'm not too into Zombies... but that looks like fun...
This is the one that I'm doing http://5kfoamfest.com/ later this year... and I'm curious as to how to train for the obsticles.0 -
I would totally do it if I didn't have an event at the Museum that day
In any case i would like to be able to knock out a 5K by then. We need to encourage one another! Maybe we can sign up for a regular 5k sometime in between for training0 -
i'm running the denver race.0

I'm doing Pittsburgh in September.
It's fun, just a 5K obstacle race with some folks in costume chasing you. My ex did the Baltimore one last year. You get 3 flags and the zombies try to snag them off you. Run in a crowd if you can. The zombies tend to pick off people running alone.
I'm so excited for this I can't stand it!0 -
I'm running the St. Louis race. I also have the Zombies, Run! app. It's pretty awesome, and spendy at $8.0

I need one of these in S. Florida. I'm so jealous.0

Already registered to do this in Missouri in August, and I can't wait!! Going to be SO MUCH FUN!!0

I'm having some pretty terrible lower back issues right now, but if we can get to some kind of point where I'm more functional, I have every intention of trying to go to the one in Orlando.0

I'm doing Pittsburgh in September too! I can't wait!0

Sounds like fun! I'm currently in the process of doing the couch to 5k program. You might want to try that! I think the site is www.coolrunning.com0

Wife and I are considering Baltimore.0

This looks like one of the most fun/silly races I have seen. I want one in my neck of the woods.0

I've never heard of this before, my oh man, I want in.
Does anyone know if there's such a thing in upstate NY?0 -

They aren't doing NY this year, but I bet they do it next year because a LOT of people have been begging.0 -
A group of us from about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh are talking about signing up for the one in September! Thanks for the tips!0

I'm going to do this 5K because it just looks like fun. I think it's a great idea to have a group of people to run the race with.. Work outside Baltimore, but never get to go explore it much.. Let me know if you find more people.. I'll try to get my friends interested.0

Dude, this looks awesome. My wife's family is from Bridgeville, (we are in Detroit), so I just texted her and told her we are signing up. I am just bummed by boy can't run too (too young). This looks like a blast.0 -
My sister-in-law is a boot camp instructor, and they're taking a "field trip" from Chicago to Indianapolis to do the one in June.
Aside from running, they're focusing on upper body strength training. She did the warrior dash last year and the obstacles that required upper body strength were the toughest on poeple. She did upper body training for the warrior dash and finished in 29 minutes. We have faster--but weaker--friends who struggled and took a lot longer than she did. All had fun though!!0 -
I am doing San Diego (Temecula) in October. I am running the race inthe first wave then doing a zombie shift later in the day. Converted by choice! lol Your undead loving friends who are not into fitness could maybe sign up as stumbler zombies?
The C25K and similar series are the best for getting to a distance But remember - it can be up to a 10k course because there are multiple routes to choose from, so consider at least pushing up to that distance by game day. Dead legs = zombie food! ; ) As for other training it's all about manipulating your body weight so focus exercises that help that ( push ups, pullups, climbing, crawling, and grip strength). A good bootcamp or circuit training class will help your body learn to change gears effectively. Honeslty, when I train for these type events I find the most fun is to go to a park where I can run and climb around on/over/through various 'obstacles'.0 -
OMG It's coming to Pittsburgh and I'm thinking about doing it!0
-
I'm doing this with a group of friends! We're doing Maryland too in October!!!0
-
I'm planning on doing the one by me near Seattle!0
