It sounds awesome but isn't it expensive and do you have to by stuff to work out with on top of that? What exactly does it involve and what is the price to get everything to get started?

Hey I am a Coach for Beachbody and am doing P90X right now.. The program is roughly around $100... You dont need extra stuff but its recommended to have some weights or resistance bands.. Its definately worth it and you get results almost instantly. Of course with the right healthy eating you will be on your way to a great transformation.
I am in Day 4 of P90X and I feel it already...
Let me know if you have other specific questions.. Ill be glad to give you my opinion!!

You definitely need either a set of resistance bands or a set of dumbbells. Is it expensive? No, it's the best value out there says my new body. You should get a yoga mat, the bands or weights as I already mentioned, and a pull up bar in addition to the program itself.0

It depends on your personality type. If you are aggressive in terms of going after your goals then it's easy to stick with. If you are a whiner or give up easy or lazy in learning then its easy to get discouraged and quit. P90X is a really hard program in the context of intensity. You must focus and not give yourself an option of failing. But with that said, the intensity and muscle confusion concept is precisely why it's so damn affective.0

Its awesome! You never get bored because you are doing something different every day. Once you pop that dvd in you wont want to stop. Its very effective I have only been doing it for almost 3 weeks and already I can feel and see my ab muscles getting more toned!0

How long are the workouts each day? I think that's the biggest reason I was drawn to the 30 day shred - the daily workouts are so short - I actually have time for them.0

I've done P90X, it was OK, definitely helped me lose some weight and tone up. P90X is primarily resistance training, so if you don't like lifting weights, you may want to try something else. Also, it does require a time committment..each DVD is about 50 minutes or so long. I must admit after awhile the workouts moved a bit slow for me, especially YogaX, which is over an hour.
Right now there's a new program out called INSANITY..it is all cardio-based with some strength training thrown in the mix. No extra equipment needed, except a mat and HR monitor. I've only been doing the program for 2 weeks and I've lost 2 inches.
It is VERY intense, so I recommend being in decent shape before trying this. Like P90X, there's a meal plan as part of the program, which is essential to meeting your goals.
I've done most of Jillian Michaels' workouts - The Shred, No More Trouble Zones and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. They helped me break a 2-month plateau when nothing else worked.0 -
Most are an hour long, ranging from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Only one work out is an hour and a half and that is Yoga X. Whats 30 day shred about? Anything similar to power half hour? Power half hour is another program I like, partially because its shorter but still a killer work out.0

Getting through amazon or other third party means is the worst way to get it. The company doesnt support a sale other than a one on one peer to peer sale. Get any beachbody program or supplement via an independent team beachbody coach.0 -

Make sure you do the fitness test first. Chancs are, if you can't make it through that you need to try a less intense program and build up to P-90x0

I have P90X and I like it fine, I am not much into weights and pullups more of a hard core cardio girl and I just checked out Shaun T's INSANITY workout. That looks like a mix of P90X moves and super cardio. I think I will look into that.
I got P90X when my sister got hers so we could do it together even though we dont live near eachother, yet she is more of a weight lifting very tone tiny girl and I have always been more of a skinny thin girl(except for right now). So I think INSANITY looks awsome. How do you like it?0 -
thinsky there isnt another pure calisthenics program out there that is more difficult than insanity. If that is your thing and you are already in fabulous shape then you will LOVE it.0

People say you are gaining muscle but you do not gain muscle that fast. Also they say for women it should be called P120X because it take women 120 days before you will see any drastic results.0

Very good points. P90X is NOT a beginner program. A lot of people start off with something like power 90 and then graduate to P90X and then Graduate p90x with a new mind and body.0 -
Ya I really want to try PX90, but dont they require you to be able to do a pullup and a regular pushup? I only know how to do a girlie pushup if you will but IM SOOO READY TO GET TONED. Im at my ideal weight pretty much just lookin to get toned

You can do pushups on your knees. When you are able to knock 20 of them out try them standard to increase the intensity. Sometimes I fall back to doing them on my knees if I am wasted but want to push a few more out.
Most women cannot do a pull up going into p90x. You can do assisted pullups and negative pull ups to work towards being able to do a true unassisted pull up. If you have bands you can wrap the bands around something up above your head to mimick pull ups. They demonstrate that in the videos.
Let me say one more thing about the weight loss aspect. P90X is not a weight loss program BUT what P90X IS, is a fat loss program, a muscle toning/strengthening/building program, a metabolism building program, a flexibility enhancement program, a cardio respiratory enhancement program, a musculo-skeletal enchancement program, a psychological balance enhancement program, an life time educational program, an optimum fitness program for those who want to feel like a million dollars in both mind and body.0 -

I'm on week #7 of P90X and am definately seeing results. Not on the scale so much but I've lost over 12 inches so far. My strength and endurance has greatly improved. Believe me, first workout was Core Synergistics and I seriously cried after and said I will never be able to do this. Then tried again 2 weeks later. Now I'm addicted!! I love it!! No I'm not seeing results on the scale so much yet mostly because I'm not following the diet plan. I just started counting calories here and hopefully together I'll get back to where I was. Anyway...I love it and highly recommend it!!!!

Yea - I am in the same boat. I started it. Got frustrated. Then re-started it 2 weeks later, and now I love it.
I am having trouble sticking to the diet plan. I always seem to go over on my carbs. But the recipes are great - when I have time to cook them. Before P90X I was cooking EVERYTHING in oil. Which I know is good fat, but too much of good fat is not always a good thing. This program has taught me different ways to cook and easy meals to make and take to work with me.
Has anyone out there seen results without adhering to the diet plan so strictly? I mean - I follow a pretty good program, eating clean and keeping my protein/carb/fat intake at about 50-40-30...

You can still get some great results if you stray from the nutrition guide but the ones that get super ripped follow the guide to a T. You don't want to stray to far from the nutrition guide either because I know plenty of people who got super strong, super flexible, super fit but their appearance isnt what they had hoped it would be. First thing I ask them is "did you follow the nutrition guide?". It's a stupid question for me to ask but I do it to underline a point. Naturally the answer has always been, "No not really I kinda did my own thing with nutrition". I tell them to try out the 90 day program again but with the addition of the p90x nutrition guide and then they have the stellar appearance they have always wanted.0

Well, that's not exactly true. The one DVD that everyone says you'll burn UP TO 600 calories is Plyometrics.
Everyone burns different amounts. Personally, the most I've ever burnt on Plyo is 390. On the strength training ones, I'll burn maybe 250 (ish, give or take).

Don't worry about the per workout calorie burn. What's more important is that you are building lean muscle mass, which burns more fat and calories 24/7. You also have to consider the after-burn; weight training continues to burn calories for up to 36 hours after the workout.
So when you take these things into account, each workout does burn about 600 calories and then some.0 -
Any anaerobic musculo-skeletal workout will cause an "after burn" that lasts a couple of days. That's not including the calories used up by the muscle you add to your frame. But still, if you want the best results possible you have to follow the nutrition guide.0

I doubted it when I heard that you were actually burning 600 calroies. I usually have to go on a hard run for about an hour to burn that much. So I never really counted that many anyway.
I usually do about an hour of cardio during the day and then the P90X workout at night. So I make sure I burn a ton.
Thanks for the help with the diet. I know I should be more strict and just stick to it. I gave up all alcohol, soda, candy, ice cream, etc and am just filling my fridge with lean proteins and good carbs...
I was hoping that would be enough to do the trick, but I haven't seen a big difference so far...but it's only been about a week.
What happens if you miss an exercise? Are there certain ones you can double up on some days? Like Yoga and a weight lifting one? Haven't done it yet, but my schedule is about to get crazy and I'm just wondering. Thanks!0
