Hi there,

Im currently doing three spin classes a week plus three sets of resistance work including kettlebell swings, lat pulldown, chest press, crunches and adductors/abductors on quite high weights. I feel more toned but my weight and dress size hasn't changed at all The only time I relax my regime is at weekend when I have a few glasses of red wine. Am feeling a little frustrated and demotivated at the moment :-(.
Does the body process alcohol differently than food?

how much is a few? are we talking glasses or bottles?

and yes the body processes alcohol differently. basically it processes the alcohol first and halts processing anything else.

but for your exercise are you increasing your weights when you do resistance work? it's not only about doing "quite high weights" but also frequently increasing those weights because the body is efficient at becoming efficient.

also what's the rest of your diet like?

I think a little more information is needed. Mostly what are you eating (make your diary open or give us the average calorie intake per day?)

If fitness is your goal then increasing difficulty is the key

If weight loss is your goal then the deficit is the key. Deficit = TDEE - food.
