What are your stats, and what are the calories you're eating? People will be able to help you better if your diary is open.

There could also be other factors such as:

    -Stress
    -Menstruation
-Vitamin useage (do you take them do you not?- they arn't bad, just change calculations!)

Either way, don't be discouraged, just know that we all have our bad months!

Howdy Judith! I went back a couple of weeks in your food diary, and I do have some suggestions, which you can take or leave as you wish =-). First of all, you should be logging more consistently. I don't have internet access at home, so I don't get to log on the weekends, but I either write everything down and estimate the calories, or I use my brother's in law computer when we go by his place, this has helped me to stay on track with my calories. Secondly, it seems like you miss meals on a fairly regular basis. I've found that eating at least 3-4 times per day has really helped me in keeping my metabolism going (my nutritionist is advocating for 5-6 times per day, but I am not always hungry that frequently and have a harder time eating when I am not hungry), but I've learned it is important to eat breakfast, something (even small) for lunch, and dinner at the very least. Thirdly, I am seeing a HUGE lack of veggies and fruits! Eat more veggies and fruits!! You also seem to eat a lot of simple carbs (tortillas--if they are whole grain that is cool, but plain flour tortillas are a simple carb), and a LOT of cheese! Cheese is great, but keeping it in moderation is important. Maybe try buying reduced-fat cheese as a first step, then working in substitutes (like avocados, which have a healthier fat, or reduced-fat sour cream, etc.). Fourthly, I notice a lot of sweet-treats throughout the week. I am a big advocate of "eat what you want" but keeping in mind moderation. I personally believe "cheat days" or "cheat meals" are fine, as I've lost 23 lbs since January and still do things like eat cake or homemade cookies (I try to make them healthier), but I try to save treats for fridays/weekends. I also try to make them healthier. Instead of buying cookies or cake I make them from scratch at home--I've seen some great recipes floating around here on mfp--maybe try making them instead. We also recently tried the fiber one 90 cal brownies--those are awesome! And 100 calorie packs are a great treat for a sweet-tooth during the week that won't completely derail your calories. Finally, you do eat a lot of chips. My husband had the same problem for a while, he grew up eating chips with his sandwich every day, and I've been substituting these for other things recently, which has really helped. I was glad to see the popcorn in your diary, that is a great chip substitute! We also buy the cheezeit 100 calorie packs, which satisfy chip cravings, pretzel sticks, chex mix, veggie crisps (buy from costco and they are AWESOME!), we even recently tried the special K cracker chips--which we both enjoyed. Oh, and popchips are great too.

I would also like to say, on a more positive note, that you are doing a great job on the exercising!! Keep it up! =-)

I think maybe you have some confusion. A calorie is not just a calorie, the cheetos are empty calories that are loaded with sodium and many unnatural ingrediets. I am not judging you...cause I love crap food, and fast food etc, but it will sabotage you. A five hundred calorie Taco Bell meal, is not the same as fish, sweet potato and salad, that yields less than 400 and gives you optimum nutrients, for a balanced BODY>

It takes 72 hours to rid the body of sodium after a fast food meal. Make a list of what you like that is healthy. DO NOT eat stuff you do not like! RIDICULOUS and sets you up for failure. Pick and choose different foods, and try to start with ONE good meal a day. Changeing a habit takes 10 days. I am a sugar FREAK...I could eat every Easter candy on the shelf, and walk to the next Walgreens for more. I allow myself a treat EVRY DAY...YES thats right! If your guilty plessure is cheetos, or a taco, do not delete these yummies, instead reduce....BUT PAY ATTENTION...when you eat better, you feel better, your skin benefits, your hair, your everything.

If you need some meal ideas, inbox me.

I am not a CLEAN eater...I SO WISH I WAS, but I loathe most green veggies, and it is hard. I have some yummy ideas, and NO...this chic rarely cooks. I wish the best to you, and trust me....you GOT THIS>

    NEVER give up anything...
If you think about it...what is the point. If you give it up, trust me it will find you, but if you allow yourself some yumminess, you will crave it less. Eventually you may enjoy the salt feel, or the texture.

You are doing this, and that is key. Remember one day at a time, adds up to many rewards. We are our own worst enemy and friend. Make friends with you!

You CAN give up Hot Cheetos if you want. If you don't want, then just make sure you are not eating so many that you can't get good nutrition from other foods without going over your calorie goals. But when you say you 'can't" give something up, that's saying you don't have control of your diet. YOU DO!! YOU CAN!!

I only allow Cheetos in my house on rare occasions because they are one of the few foods I can't have around without eating them. I can't just let them sit there until I really want them. If they are there, I'll eat them. ALL. Immediately. So, they are not there. Some foods are best given up totally or almost totally. I do still eat them on rare occasions.

I've also looked back at your diary. One other problem could be that you're not eating enough. It is a had concept to accept --that eating more will make you lose more, but there's this number called your BMR -- Basal Metabolic Rate -- and it's how many calories your body burns when you just sit and breathe -- so you should be eating AT LEAST this amount.

The other number people often reference is your TDEE -- Total Daily Energy Expenditure -- which is essentially how many calories you can eat if you wanted to maintain your current weight.

When setting your calorie goal, they say to set your intake to be a deficit of 250-500 calories, for a pound to a pound and a half of weight loss each week. You should take this deficit from your TDEE -- and it should be higher than your BMR.

My advice would be to gradually adjust your calorie intake (maybe 30-50 calories at a time) to let your body adjust. You may initially see a gain, but it will even out eventually.

You can actually eat more than you think -- my BMR is 1580, so my limit is 1650 a day. I explain it more in a blogpost I wrote: http://collegecookingandironchefamerica.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-weight-loss-technique.html
