Hi I am new to this. I have a degenerative spinal problem and am piling on weight. I do physio excercises three times a day- each session takes me about 45 minutes but I don't feel its active enough to be classed as exercise. I really need to lose weight to take the strain off my back and legs. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have never been overweight in my life before until I became ill and I don't really know how to handle this.

Unfortunately, you will need to adjust your diet. Smaller portions healthier foods will help. Logging what you eat on MFP will help. Get set up witha profile and goals. Lot s of people here to support you in you efforts.

First always check with your doctors before doing anything new, but I have pretty severe problems in my back, hernias', narrowing (stenosis), arthritis, and on. I am not sure what your phisio consists of but here is what I do every day. I started out in the pool walking and then doing a total pool workout. I can now walk 2 miles at lunchtime. I listen to my body though and on bad days go back to in the pool only. I have also found an incumbent stationary bike ok as well. Again I have good and bad days but find I can always do something in the gym pool even on bad days. Know how many calories I am taking in verses what I am expending is also a big piece of the puzzle for me. I keep moving above all, good luck!
