bump for later.... need to get the nerve to gulp down spinach without my gag reflexes kickin in. :ohwell:

You cannot taste the spinach!! I use the frozen spinach but it is purely for nutritional value.

I know this is a stupid question do you thaw the spinach first or just throw it in the blender frozen? My stomach doesn't like spinach in leaf form so maybe blending it will work better.

    Thanks for the info.

I think some people throw it in frozen ( just don't use Ice then)... I buy the organic pre washed bags of the fresh kind myself..

we''ve been doing green smoothies for a while and I LOVE them! I agree with the poster who said that Kale is a pain to blend - somehow it never blends as well as any of my other greens.

    My favorite recipe:
    1c. spinach (I use fresh)
    5 frozen strawberries
    1/2 mango
    1/2c. frozen raspberries
juice of 1/2 of a lemon.

    Tastes like raspberry lemonade.

Best place to but the spinach that I have found is Costco...around $4.50 for a 2 1/2 lb bag.
    I love :
    8oz almond milk
    3 cups spinach
    1 pear
    1 banana
    1 cup frozen blueberries
    ice

    DELICIOUS!!!

So, can I use frozen spinach? You can not believe what they charge for spinach where I live...assuming it's even available. I suppose that's stupid, of course I CAN but how much, do you think?

I'm going to try this. Fresh spinach is super expensive. Plus, i usually throw a few ice cubes in the blender anyway right??? I'll just partially thaw it, chop it into 6-8 pieces, and put them in snack size ziploc bags for easy handling. The frozen stuff is usually chopped finely anyway, and it can take the place of my ice cubes since it's frozen. we shall see!!!

Sounds like you need a decent blender for most of these smoothies

I love smoothies! I haven't been having them lately but for years had them, must get back to them!

I throw whatever I have in the house but I do like

    Couple of handfuls of spinach
    1 large cooked beet root
    1 green apple
    Some frozen pineapple
    0% Greek yoghurt

Sometimes I add ginger, Manuka honey or cacao in
