Thank you... I get heartily sick of seeing pedants on chatboards. If somebody asks for a critique of their posting then fine - if not, keep quiet.
Ummm I did check. I did not think I was attacking anyone personally. Apparently, you are offended. I apologize for that. :flowerforyou:0 -
I don't think this post should be offending anyone. It is a good lesson. Here are some mistakes that people use often. I am no english major but some members might want a small lesson. I also rarely capitalize i in the middle of a sentence, in that matter i never use upper case letters at all except when autocorrect does it for me
Their-belongs to
They're - they are
There- place, like over there
Your- belongs to you
You're- you are
Could have (could've) and would have (would've) not could of or would of
Loose adjective
Lose verb
Affect verb
Effect noun
Deer an animal
Dear a term of affection
Accept to accept something
Except exception
Edited because i posted before i was finished.0 -
"Very unique " "your lovely" etc
Ha - I agree. When that happens I just want to yell: "My lovely WHAT??? Finish your sentence!!!"
/ carefully checks for proper use of "your" in MY sentence...

Thank you for pointing this out it drives me nuts!0

Don't forget that your belt may be loose if you're losing weight.
The your vs. you're thing is my pet peeve of spelling errors!0 -
Oh well! I don't see the harm in mistakes0

I can't bear 'would of'/'could of' etc. It's HAVE, people! (Amy's head explodes with rage.) (Not literally.)
An English teacher recently told me the reason people say "could of " or "would of". We say contractions in every day speech. Most people are saying "could've".
There is your worthless info for the day.0 -

Really proper grammar? I thought the English teacher was telling me it was incorrect. Thanks for the lesson. I did google it and it can be used.0 -
