Not really sure, but I have heard that it is worse than regular coke.0

I've heard the same. I think it's time to start drinking beer at lunch time too . I have no trouble with 8+ glass of water but like a bit of flavour and bubbles in the middle of the day.0

there are studies that show diet sodas(which is basically what coke zero is) have a negative affect on your body. Look it up. They are not healthy to drink if you're wandering. But if your concerned with sugar they are probably better then regular sodas.0 -

I've also heard a lot claims about it. I don't know the validity of them but all I can say is I've never noticed it preventing me from losing weight when I wanted to.
Your right though, it is pretty much worthless from a nutrional point of view.0 -
I bought a twelve pack of sparkling water last week with a touch of lime. It gave me the carbonated drink with no calories.0

That's a great idea. I think there will be certain amount of weaning that will have to happen too.0 -
The possible down sides that I can recall are damage to your teeth and bones (though I think you'd have to drink a lot before you ended up losing calcium from your bones). Plus I'm sure I've read something about your body being fooled by the artificial sweeteners and... I can't remember the details, but I'm sure you'll find a lot online.
In general, if you like them and its keeping you from eating/drinking other unhealthy options they're probably OK. In the longer term though, I tend to think that it's a much better habit to get used to drinking water as your main drink and enjoying a soft drink (diet or regular, and I'd also include juice here) or alcoholic drink as an occasional treat.
A SOMETIMES FOOD as the cookie monster would say.0 -
I buy sparkling water and put either fresh oj in it or no added sugar squash, depending on my calories that day. That way, it still counts as water and you can make it taste like pretty much anything you want0

I would not recommend anything with artificial sweeteners. I think it uses Splenda (chlorinated sugar). Not only has it been linked to weight gain, it causes a myriad of other health issues. It is bleach and sugar, ultimately....0

If you just want 'fizzy', try squash with sparkilng water :-)0

I LOVE that stuff!0 -

Bottom line, drink it if you want, don't drink it if you don't want. I see it like peanuts, millions of people are deathly allergic to peanuts, but I'm not, so they aren't bad for me. Aspartame is the same way.0 -
I am sure a coke zero here and there won't hurt you. Enjoy your coke zero a few times a week at lunch, just don't drink it all day, every day:)0

Try selzer water + lemon juice (or any low cal juice). Gives you the fizz you're missing. You could also add a little Stevia.0

Soda whether diet or not is bad for you. Diet soda in particular.0

Um, chloride is a necessary nutrient for human life. Technically, SALT is just "chlorinated sodium."
You know where else you find chloride? Just about every vegetable, lettuce, olives, tomatoes, etc... All "chlorinated."0 -

I am not sure where you live but I buy President's Choice sparkling fruit juice!! There 4 cans to a case and it costs about $2.99 for a case, sometimes you can get it on sale!!! I love this sparkling juice because it made with fruit so you are getting your fruit!
All I can say if you want the coke go for the small cans and you will fine!!!0 -
If you consume diet anything, it is best to be done in moderation. Artificial sweeteners are perfectly safe in low quantities.
Depending on your intake of other sugar-free foods, you could probably have a few a day and be fine.
If you find drinking it causes you to crave actual sugar, then probably not a good idea to drink it.
Flavored sparkling waters generally have many of the same ingredients minus the food coloring.0 -
Everyone's different. I LOVED coke zero but I went cold turkey almost a year ago. I still miss it sometimes. I just couldn't seem to drink it in moderation and I truly believe all those chemicals weren't good for me. If I could have had it once or twice a week I would have happily kept the habit but every time I vowed to do that I made excuses and ended up drinking it every day. So eventually I quit it all together.
If you think it is impacting your weight loss give it up for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If you can't give it up for a few weeks then you might like to think about whether you have a problem (which would have been me).0 -
I find nothing wrong with drinking Diet Soda. I have one everyday and on the weekends, probably more. If it is your main drink you might notice it being a little harder to lose weight but seriously those "scientific tests" are showing results of people drinking soda as their main/only drink0
-
I don't think there is anything wrong with drinking diet coke. However a lot of other diet coke drinkers tell me that after they drink diet coke, they really start to crave sugar. I think a lot of it is mental.0

One thing I've heard consistently about diet sodas being "bad" for you: They fool the body somehow (I forget the exact wording used) and leave you wanting to drink more of them. However, if you are able to drink just one, then there's really no problem with it. Get your water in too and all is well.
I have also heard that carbonated drinks in general are supposed to be bad for you. I've never gotten a clear answer why, though. Take it for what it's worth. I go with the usual "all things in moderation."0 -
In terms of affects on your weight loss, it is not 'bad for you' . The artificial sweetener (I think aspartame in the case of coke zero) metabolises into negligible quantities of components that are found in much larger quantities in meats.
If it helps you to avoid regular soft drink, it can be beneficial to your weight loss by helping you to stay under your calorie goal, and putting your calories to more nutritional use.
However, it is acidic and therefore weakens the enamel on your teeth. Decay is usually caused by acid excreted by bacteria. Drinking soft drink washes your whole mouth with acid. I've recently racked up a $10 000 dental treatment schedule, so I am all over this stuff, heh. Drinking it through a straw helps.
Cutting it out basically just saves your liver from a little bit of work.0 -
There have also been studies that show that it "trains" your body to crave sugar.0

We have an Executive Assistant at work (who was also a fitness instructor) who swears Splenda is from the devil. I was using it in coffee in the morning and she told me to switch to Truvia. She claimed that Splenda will keep weight on you and not help you lose it.
Keep in mind these are her claims and not based in scientific fact.
I have, however, lost weight since I quit using Splenda products.
Aspartame has apparently been linked to migraines and God knows what else, and it supposed to make you crave carbs.
Nobody gets out of this alive. Something out there will kill us all. I say have fun and do what you want in moderation.0 -
try pepsi zero much better0

I am 116lbs down - and drink at least one coke zero every day - so from my experience - no negative effect on weightloss - and it keeps the 3pm sugar cravings and munchies at bay....0

Here's what the "studies" that link Diet Soda to weight gain actually found. Get ready, as this is some deep, deep stuff.
People who weigh more tend to drink diet soda more often than people who weigh less.
Mind blowing, isn't it? People that weigh more, that are probably trying to lose weight, switched to diet soda? The "studies" never once show people that are normal weight, and drinking diet soda, gaining weight and becoming overweight or obese. They show that overweight and obese people tend to drink diet soda, while normal weight people tend to drink regular soda. Of course some guy with an anti diet soda agenda twisted it around to say that diet soda makes you gain weight, which is of course, not at all what the "studies" say.
And I put "studies" in quotes because these studies were epidemiological studies, which are fun to do, but absolutely useless for deriving any real scientific data that means anything. Actual controlled studies to test the theory have always shown absolutely no link between diet soda and weight gain.0 -
Warning: Artifical sweeteners cause health issues in two groups.
1) People with a specific sensitivity to artificial sweeteners
2) People that believe everything they read on the internet0
