STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT LOSING WEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you taken pictures? measurments? anything other than looking at that stupid number on the scale?! You know what? I'm 5'9 and I weigh 179.2. Am I stressing about that number? NO. Why?! BECAUSE I TAKE PICTURES!!!!!! I posted a blog a little while ago where I went 3 weeks without a loss. THREE WEEKS!!!! And I took pictures. Guess what? I lost a CRAP load of inches!

I know it's hard, but stop obsessing over the stupid scale. It's just a number. Pictures and measurments will make you feel so much better than that number that is "too high".

Here's the picture proof.

I had a SIX WEEK stretch of no weight loss. I did however, lose 4 inches off my body, 2 of them off my waistline alone! The number on the scale is not everything in a weight loss journey!

    WTG AmberJ!

Preeeeeach!!! My mom actually GAINED 5 lbs recently---and lost half an inch in her waist!! The proof is in the pictures, y'all, if the # on the scale upsets you, throw that stupid thing away, it's irrelevant!

I'm sorry to troll, but it's very contradictory to read "don't pay attention to the scale it's just a number" and "take your measurements". Both are numbers.

I do understand I can lose inches and not pounds. I track both.

Again, sorry, but I couldn't help myself.

I understand, and took that into account when writting this, but the number you see on a tape is not obsessed about as much as a scale number, and maybe it should be.

I understand why the soapbox, but people are just frustrated. Weight is a number everyone can get with good accuracy. Body fat % is better, but it can vary by what you are using to measure it and the skill of the person doing it.. Taking measurements also depends on skill and practice (I can measure an inch up or down if I'm not careful how/where I measure). Taking pictures is fantastic for the long-term and can really help motivation. I agree everyone should take them but not everyone can see short-term changes.

Most people posting are just looking for advice, helpful changes, or for confirmation that what they are doing is right and they just need to be patient. It can be so frustrating to be finally making a change in your life, trying to do it the 'right' way, and not see changes in the scale (or elsewhere) when you see all these stupid 'I lost 30lb in 30 days and have rock-hard abs' ads. It makes you feel like you've wasted your time.

On that note, stop comparing yourself to other people. Simple as that. You are you. Your body does what your body does. Not what the itty bitty skinny girl, or the tight muscular girl, or the overweight girl's body does. I understand the need for motivation, I get it. But why look for validation when you can get it from just yourself and what YOU'RE doing.

Don't see a difference? Post before and during pictures. THe forums will go crazy telling you where they see the difference and it will inevitably make you feel better.

Weight loss is hard, and all I'm saying it to be more positive, and to stop looking at ONE avenue.

Agreed...EXCEPT for one small thing: Many of my *goals* involve dropping enough weight to be able to do certain activities that have weight limits. I kind of HAVE to make the number on the scale lower so that I can do things like segway thru the zoo, zipline, and jump out of an airplane for my 30th birthday. *sigh* I wish I could just rely on a tape measure but, alas, the scale haunts me :grumble:
