I went out this evening to run/walk for the first time since getting tendonitis in my knee. I have been doing the elliptical some and no swelling so thought I would try. Well, I got about 10 minutes in and the skies opened up and I got drenched. :grumble: At first I tried to wait it out under a tree but it just got worse :noway: I was using my husband's Bose headphones for the first time so I took them off and shoved them under my shirt to protect them and tried my best to get home...I was soaked, couldn't even see when I was running  (was funny though! ) Anyway, the good thing was even after stretching there was no swelling in my knee and it feels ok..... so hopefully the new shoes and custom orthotic inserts have made a difference and I can get back to the C25K!!!

Good job on the running! :flowerforyou: Ouch! I've had tendonitis in my wrist before, so I know how painful that can be. I'm glad to hear that's healing well. I'm also glad to hear that custom orthotic inserts do make a difference, since I have a pair that should be coming in 2 weeks from now. I have a bone spur on my big toe which has caused me to change my original walking routine.

Stacey, I hope you find your engagement ring.

Well, I did great on water and exercise today, but was over by 350 cals. If it weren't for those darn chocolate cupcake cones that a friend of mine made & then gave to the kids . . .

Stacey--keeping my fingers crossed for you that you find your ring. I understand how upsetting that must be  Hopefully it shows up somewhere you think you looked but hadn't!

Amy--yes, tendonitis sucks, I have it in my wrist also and have had to wear a brace in order to type or do anything, thought it might be carpal tunnel at first but after drs. visits and tests, nope, was tendonitis. I got it from working in the lab more than typing but typing made it worse. Much better now that I am staying at home. I actually got my custom orthotics done at a running shoe store and not the Drs office. They melted them to match my feet, was really cool. Hope yours work...I need to go see if mine are dry yet from the soaking they got yesterday.

I am going to my 25th Middle School reunion tonight! Should be a lot of fun.
Everyone have a great day

Stacey---believe me, I understand about the dog. They can be soooo much work and when you have kids to take care of it can just be too much. I luckily have older kids that I make take care of the dog (they wanted one) so it is easier on me. Hang in there and I hope you find her a good home so that some of your stress is lifted

    quiet up here today.
and lettuce, thank you for your understanding words. she was nutty a little while ago but then hubby turned up the setting on the bark collar--instant results! whew!
i'm very sensitive to sound (even tho i'm a screamer) and her constant barking in the evenings was beyond grating on my nerves.
    sigh...

off to give last little one chills/snuggles.

Good Morning--well, I went out last night and I must say I didn't drink that much so I am very happy about that
Having friends over for dinner tonight who are in from Ohio so I am going to try and watch my calories all day so I can eat well tonight!

have fun with your friends tonight!
what are you planning on serving?

when we have dinner guests i try to make a big salad so i have a lot of that on my plate--and try to avoid the carb side dish. that way i can have dessert!
i also try to have at least 2 veges or vege and fruit (like applesauce or cantaloupe or grapes) to serve with the meal. these strategies have been helpful for me--maybe they'll work for you.

in any case, enjoy your good company. :flowerforyou:

as for me--i baked challah yesterday. mmmmm
and i'm thinking of baking cookies today--b/c i must sabotage myself at every opportunity!
actually, the kids and i are driving up to park city ut tomorrow and i thought i'd like to have some homemade treats for the ride and the vacation. plus i just enjoy baking.

Stacey--Hubby loves to cook! He is getting some Ribeyes cut and he makes homemade Ceasar dressing so we actually dip romaine hearts in it and grill it. Lots of fresh grilled veggies, zucchini, squash eggplant. Some kind of potato (but I don't eat much of those). For desert we bake a puff pastry and layer it with fresh raspberries, strawberries and blackberries. Hubby makes fresh whip cream and then drizzles is with dark chocolate (I eat a bite). So very yummy.

I was able to do 2 miles light running/ walking and HRM says I burned 269 cal! Yeah

I love challah!!! Send me some!!!!!

    i'll be away---

ladies, i'm leaving for ut tomorrow am and won't have computer access for the week. so if you'd like to have this thread--one of you will need to start it up. (that sounds obnoxious, the tone of my voice is actually calm and just "heads up-y".

so here's how to do it
--go to motiv and support and choose new topic (on Monday AM)
--write in the title of the thread SAHM --dates for the week
--mention in the body of the post that this is the week's thread and add a friendly hello so newcomers can get a good feeling for the thread.
    --post it
--then copy the link from your web browser bar
--go to the thread from this week
--click reply and in the body of that post paste in the link that you just copied
--write that this is where to find the thread for this week and signal people to go there
--click post reply and you're done

sounds complicated cuz i wrote every bitty step. but really takes just a minute. so if one of you can take charge, that would be super!
i'll check back on saturday. and here's to a successful, staying on target week for us all! :drinker:

I understand too. I have 2 dogs that we had before we had children. I've already told the family that once the 1st one passes away, we're not getting another one until after the 2nd one passes away. It's too much work for me. It's like having 4 kids (5 if you count DH  ).

Stacey - I'm glad to hear you found your ring!! And have a great trip! It sounds like fun!

Lettuce - Thank you for agreeing to start next week's thread. :flowerforyou: I'm not sure if I'd be able to have time Monday morning to do it.

We finally had the yard sale this morning that we were going to have last month. My eating today hasn't been good, but I've gotten in some good activity moving boxes from the garage to the front porch and then back again after the sale. We're going to go enjoy the beautiful (but HOT) day. I'll check back in later!

I never take mine off, would have a heart attack if I lost it I think. Hubby had it custom made and I love it.

Amy--np about doing the post on Monday but it migh not be until 10 or so EST as the kids and I have been slow moving these days, really need to change that with school starting on the 31st.

It has been really hot and humid here lately but that is how the weather is in the DC area in August--Hazy, Hot and Humid :grumble:

and i did bake the brown sugar cookies (grandma's recipe) and ATE lots. kenpo x and i have a mtg tonight--rt after i finish packing!
and then i'll walk the dog.

my eating for the last month has been *rap!!!!!
i'm entering my last 6 weeks to the deadline. i have to BRING IT as they all say. and instead i crumble under the pressure.
i have to figure out how to get into it again. exercise isn't enuf to battle so many extra cals. i'll give it some thought and get back to y'all with my plans.
i know the faulty thinking i have going on lately. now i need to figure out a way back out of it.

    alright...to the suitcases!
good job on the exercise lettuce! and amy, hope you made $ today!

10 or so is fine with me. I probably won't be able to check in until after that anyway.

I understand the hot & humid weather. I'm just north of Charlotte, NC, and we have similar weather in August.

hi Guys you have all been busy I have had no time to post last week and no time to exercise it was my little ones birthday last week and I couldnt get my head into gear to do her cake so it was all last min with me feeling like I need extra hours in a day. On her birthday we took her to the wildlife park she enjoyed it but it was rubbish hardly any animals and you pay to go in very dissappointing next year we will go away to the UK camping as there are 2 flyball tournaments in aug.

Taz got 3rd in the show last week also so I am pleased with him. Puppy is still so well behaved glad to see you are sticking with yours stacey it will be worth it in the end

Been out with the kids on the bikes this morning 700 cals burned and will walk the dogs later this affy but gotta get a mobile phone cake made another last min order the money is handy but i wish people would understand the work that has to go into designing a cake especially when it is a new design for me aarrgghh and then they haggle on the price the way I see it is you either pay what I ask or I dont make the cake I am not that desparate for the money that I will work for peanuts it takes approx 2 hours to prep the cake then same again to ice and then the design work I am only charging this one £45 and £15 of that is just materials then you got electricity so I dont get that much an hour. rant over

I am bakc to checking in now and looking forward for the kids going to school 9th sept so got a while yet.
