So I am dealing with horrible Morning sickness and find that a lot of things i could normally eat, i can no longer tolerate. Does anyone have any suggestions other than saltines or pretzels? I am getting sick of those pretty quick.:grumble:

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS !!!
Now, to answer your question, many of the pregnancy books recommend peppermint (like Starlight mints) to ward off morning sickness. Personally, they did not help me, but thought I would pass it along...0 -
Congrats!! My doctor told me to take vitamin B6 to help with nausea and sickness. Call your doctor though and ask before you take it. (I'm always cautious.) Good luck on the rest of your pregnancy!0

I took B vitamins when I was pregnant, they say that B6 helps morning sickness.
It was the things that I smelled that would get me - so I took a page from medieval people who carried something with them to smell when odors were foul - a few drops of pepermint, orange or lemon essential oil on a handkerchief can be sniffed when need be.
Don't have any other advice about what you can eat to help.
Bless you and the person you are growing.0 -
have you tried the motion sickness wrist bands? i got some in the drug/pharmacy department at the grocery store for car sickness. the package says can be used for sickness due to pregnancy. they look like the 80's sweat bands but more thin, with a plastic 'nob' on the inside. the nob applies pressure to a pressure point in the wrist relieving the pukey feeling.
i know they worked for me. i had to drive from dallas to alabama in the back of a small suv. at one point, we stopped and ate. i forgot to put them back on and thought i was going to ralph! then about 3 minutes after i did i felt fine again. was even able to read!!!
good luck! and congrats! :drinker: :flowerforyou:0 -
Ginger is a natural stomach settling herb. You can take it in pill form, sprinkle it liberally over your food or sip ginger ale (I would suggest as a last resort because of the sugar content).
Really helped me when I was pregnant with my son, I just kept the bottle by the bed during the first trimester and took one before I got up in the morning. Never had any problems. :flowerforyou:0 -

McDonald's big macs were all I could eat while pregnant. I evetually could stomach veggies like broccoli and celery with peanut butter. Hope you feel better soon.0 -
Try a piece or two of butterscotch candy, I've heard that it really helps a upset tummy! And Congrats!!!!0

WARNING!!!!!!!Someone said peppermint tea, Please ask your doctor before you do. I was using it during my last pregnancy and I read some where that it could cause mis-carriages. So I quit drinking it right away. I do not know if this is fact or and "old wives tale" but I would rather be safe than sorry so look into that before you try it. I wish I had a solution, I was terribly sick with all of my pregnancy's. It seemed to go away a bit quicker each pregnancy but not quick enough. I wish you well. By the way congrats on the precious new baby. I added a link on herbal tea during pregnancy.

Congratulations!! :flowerforyou:
I used to carry dried papaya with me - always helped my tummy (it's supposed to be good for that anyway, and it worked).
I got sooo sick of saltines and pretzels too, felt like empty calories and unnecessary salt!
Good luck and let us know what works!0 -
Thanks for the suggestions i will give the ginger tea a try. I refuse to drink any type of soda including ginger ale. I was horribly addicted and kicked the habit last year and i refuse to go back no matter what.
I have tried the B6 vitamins with my last pregnancy and they did nothing, i am taking them again but so far no help.
I will talk to my Dr. in 2 weeks, but a lot of my snacks i can no loger eat because they are not good on the reverse journey if you know what i mean. Nuts, yogurt, etc.0 -
Have you tried eating the saltines or crackers right before you get out of bed? My morning sickness was really bad and that helped some. Congratulations and good luck!
