Is it normal?

I have been using MFP for 2 weeks, but really started tracking EVERYTHING last week and I have not lost anything yet. I also started working out 4-5 days a week. I used to do WW and I remember it taking a while for me to lose, but this is dramatic. I am eating sooo much less than I was before. I feel like my clothes are fitting better, but no weight. Did this happen to any of you? How long did it take you to start losing?

Open your diary. Also, explain what your are doing as far as working out (duration, intensity, etc).

My first few weeks, I lost, gained, then lost again. It was so demoralizing. You just keep plugging away and it *will* happen! Part of my problem was using machine and MFP estimates for calories burned. They were waaay over for me (30%+/-) and they were negating a lot of my intended deficit. I also learned later that, being new to exercise, I was probably retaining water as my muscles worked to repair themselves.

Good luck on your journey, and just keep on keeping on! You'll see that scale start to move soo !
  • it takes me 4-5 weeks of consistant focus to see any difference on the scale. focus on the inches your loosing vs. the pounds and that will help keep you motivated. and in just a short time you will start to *feel* better and better every day:)

My husband and I were just talking about this last night. My first two months were horrible, a lb came off, two went on, and on and on, it wasn't really until my second and third months that things started happening. Weight started to steadily come off and I could visually see a change in my body. It's easy to see why people quit early due to not seeing results. Just keep plugging along and it will start to shift.

I tend to lose inches before weight. Also, as previous poster stated, the calories burn are overestimated!! but if you wear a HRM you will have a better idea of caloric burn. Good luck in your journey!

I really needed this today. I had lost some, started doing some strength exercises (very few because I'm way out of shape) but I gained two pounds back, it is very discouraging. I know that it will come off if I stay under my calories, but I can't help wanting to quit. I'm sticking with it and I'm going to continue my three push ups, ten sit ups and ten dips until I can do more! Thank you for the encouragement.
