I take a b complex plus extra b12 when I remember. Also calcium/magnesium/zinc+d sometimes. The only thing I actually manage to remember on a daily basis are my allergy meds because I'm miserable without them!0
-
I take a multi vitamin with probiotics and q10, then a high strength fish oil omega3 supplement and a prebiotic mix. Also calcium for bones.
I take a lot of meds for lupus so feel the need to counteract the damage that they are creating.0 -
floradix - for iron
phloe - which is a prebiotic to keep me regular0 -
Vitamin D. I'm deficient. But most of us in the northern hemisphere are.
Iron. I'm a lady with monthly lady happenings. 'Nuff said.
Calcium. Its with my vitamin D. Just to be on the safe side.
There isn't a lot of evidence for most vitamin supplements, so I pretty much only take the vitamins where there is some evidence that its useful...or where its been recommended by a medical person for me, personally.
But I also have turned to juicing vegetables (not as meal replacements...but as sort of a drinkable vitamin). Because it does disturb me that overweight omnivores in the west end up being vitamin deficient. Given how much we eat, it makes me wonder what's going on...dairy guzzlers with calcium deficiencies, daily meat eaters with vitamin B deficiencies...what? So I feel better drinking some veggies 2 - 3 times a week.0 -
I take a daily women's multi. I also take potassium (to prevent muscle cramps) and soy isoflavones (to help with hot flashes, sigh.)0

Vit D - I'm deficient
Iron - For energy (and because mfp says I don't have enough)
Protein shake here and there - Helps muscle repair
Don't believe in taking pills for everything but these def help me stay healthy the second I stop taking vit D I get sick without fail.0 -
Thanks everyone!0

tablespoon honey mixed with cinnamon each morning
On a non-regular basis, I take:
tumeric [for inflammation]
I also use a protein poweder in my kale/spinach smoothies every day. I will be getting a joint supplement in a few days, as well.0 -
Centrum for Women. I don't eat that great to get 100% of everything every day, so this gives me a boost.0

I just started taking a new vitamin, because my
New chapter whole food daily vitamin didn't have any potassium and i've been lacking in potassium of late.
My new vitamin I just started taking day before yesterday and I truly "feel" a difference inside my body since day one of taking them are called:
Megafood Women Over 40 One A Day Vitamin -
I also take:
American Health - Chewable Blueberries Acidophilus With Bifidus, 1 wafer sometimes 3 times per day
Jarrow Formulas - Methyl B-12 1000, 1000 mcg (I may not have to take these as much now, because my new one a day vitamins have B-12 in them).
New Chapter - Wholemega (Extra Virgin Wild Alaskan Salmon) Whole Fish Oil 1000mg, 1 softgels
I don't take these supplements every day (except the Probiotics & multi whole food vitamins), but only when I feel so led.
also, i drink;
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Protein Powder - Hemp Pro 70, 4 Tbsp (since i'm eating more protein, i'll cut back on my 4 tablespoons of this after working out to 1-2 tablespoons per day or every other day/when i'm so Led)0 -
Biotin, mainly for my nails because they're naturally very brittle and flake like a pastry but it's got its other benefits.
One A Day Energy, multivitamin because my gyno said I needed to be taking one and I chose the energy because sometimes I don't get proper sleep (I have an insomnia problem) and it keeps me from being dead on my feet.
Citracal Calcium + D, again because my gyno suggested it and I was told it's an essential vitamin for women.
Omega 3-6-9 Complex, doctor recommended
B-12, again doctor recommended.
I take upwards of 12 pills daily prescription-wise, I don't take supplements unless a doctor says I either need to or it would benefit me in general.0 -

How's that Biotin working for you and what kind do you take?0 -
None....I try to eat well enough to supply my body what it needs.0

I take the generic "Spring Valley" brand and it works pretty well. My nails naturally, like I said, were brittle and soft and tended to flake and would get almost like speedbumps on the surface, they even dented and just took forever to grow. I first was taking a very cheap Hair Skin & Nails formula and it didn't do much and I switched to a pricier brand that advertises on the box it's "Kardashian Approved" or whatnot and it worked really well for my nails but the product's quality was inconsistent, every other bottle I bought had expired/rotten caplets. I mean they reeked. I switched to straight up Biotin a little over a month ago after research. And really, they work. My nails grow so that every two weeks I'm having to trim them, I have no splitting, no denting, and when I had them long for a while, you couldn't even bend the nail down which was always a problem with me and how they often broke.
Long end of the story being, for someone who has had bad nails even expensive "hardening" and "strengthening" polish treatments couldn't mend, this stuff's awesome and the capsules are small enough that it's not hard to take the recommended 2 daily with a handful of other pills.0 -
Prenatals (I use this as my multi)
Calcium with Magensium and Zinc
Fish Oil
Glucosamine
Most of these a self explanatory. I just started with the glucosamine because arthritis runs in my family so I felt I better get a head start on it. So far I can't really tell/don't notice a difference but I've read it can take a couple months to truly take affect.0 -
I used to have high Cholesterol Upwards of 280 so I started taking Red Yeast Rice, and Mega Red Fish oil and within 6 months I was down to 200. I also take Calcium with Vit D, Magnesium to keep my blood pressure low, Iron, Glucosimean with Condroitant (sorry about the spelling!) and some sort of fiber pill...and thats about it!!!0
-
Waste of money, you don't need them if you eat right unless there is something wrong with you. Spend the money at the gym or on better food.0
-
A multivitamin - all around coverage
b-100 complex - extra b vitamins
magnesium - it's responsible for a lot of stuff and I know I don't get enough from food
vitamin d - I don't get enough sun
niacin - not in the multivitamin, good for cholesterol, mental health, and longevity
extra zinc - good for making testosterone0 -
Vitamin D because my joints were aching. LOL.0
-
I take a multi vitamin.
I also take a hair, skin and nails supplement- my skin is good, but my hair is a mess and my nails are very brittle.
That's all I take, aside from my antidepressant0 -
I take the ONE a day for girl Teen Multivitamins, just because my body needs them (all bodies need them sometimes)
I also take vitamin D3, because my vitamin D3 is low and my bones need that,
and I take calcium, because of my bones as well.0 -
I take Glucosamine, 1000mg daily for my joints because I am 36 and a little cronky and 3000mg Evening Primrose Oil daily because my PMT is a *****.0

Lots of great varied responses here! SInce everyone has a different body with different environmental factors that affect different genetic factors, what's sufficient or insufficient for one will not be the same for another. However, with standardized nutrition and fitness across different genetic variables, more people will tend to agree.
I add my vitamins into my food diary, so if you are friends with me on here, you can see what I eat daily, even supplements.
My personal vitamin regimen at the moment is Universal Nutrition's Animal Pak. I've arrived at this daily multi-pack after consuming absolutely no vitamins for a loooong time, to adding a cheap multi-vitamin in one pill bought at Rite-Aid, called something like Men's Formula (which made a difference!), to a great 3-pill multi called Opti-Men, to finally Animal Pak, which is fantastic for all-around vitamins with no iron (important) for people who lift weights like crazy in the gym (me).
I also take the joint pack by the same company called Animal Flex, which is also a great joint-only pack, as long as you aren't allergic to shellfish because of the hyaluronic acid.
I take other supplements that are protein powders and pre- and post-wokout drinks, but as far as things in pill form, I also supplement my meals with CLA geltabs, CoQ10 sometimes, Glutamine, and that's about it.0 -
Wow! Thanks everyone for responding!0
