    Hi sarahmayi!

Without any more information given (your current calorie limit, maintenance number, macros etc) its kind of hard to determine whether your menu is good or bad. Are you currently on a low carb diet? normal carb, high protein/fat diet? These info are needed to properly judge the quality of your menu.

However your lunch does sound scrumptious!

Thank you! current calorie limit is 1200. I am on a high protein, low-ish carb plan. I eat carbs for breakfast & lunch but not for dinner. I have 3 main meals, and 2 snacks.

    thanks!

They sound like good food choices for the most part (personally I'm not a big fan of the processed protein bars/shakes, I think you can get more nutrition from actual food than processed stuff) but I wonder if you are going to get enough energy (ie calories) from those choices? What is your daily calorie allowance and how much does this come to when you put it in your diary?
Entering your meals ahead of time is a great way to have a look at how your day is balancing out. I know "everyone says" you need lots of protein but you want to make sure you are getting some carbs and fat in there too. Once you have your meals in your diary you can see at a glance if you are over or under.

    A few other observations:
    - you hardly have any carbs in there - do you have a medical reason to avoid carbs? If not, then I would suggest adding a bit of brown rice, quinoa or grainy bread to dinner.
    - You have fresh fruit and veggies covered which is fabulous.
    - You'll be getting some fat from your peanut butter but it probably wouldn't hurt to have a bit more (check your macro numbers). You could add more cheese, olive oil dressing, avocado or a handful of almonds or walnuts to your salad.

Fruit & veg are carbs, you NEED carbs! Low carb = baaaaad idea, in my opinion. Maybe others will disagree, but it is totally not maintainable for life, therefore it is a fad, and fads don't work.

Add in some slow digesting carbs and that meal plan would be just about perfect!

In my opinion, any diet that consists of low carbs/fats are BAD. People think carbs, crap its going to make me fat, and with fat ****e its FAT DAMNIT!. They couldn't be MORE wrong. Yes saturated fat is bad, but you still need ESSENTIAL FATS otherwise your body will not function properly. Same goes with carbs, carbs are your main energy source, without carbs your body will seek anywhere and everywhere else to maintain running. This means bye bye fat, but also bye bye muscle/tissue etc.

As someone stated above, low carb diets are short term moves, it is not a lifestyle diet that can be kept. It is best to check your macros (amount of carbs, protein and fats that make up your calories) and try to meet them. For example my caloric intake at the moment is 2500cal, trying to boost it higher to 2600. From that my macros are 50c/30p/20f, meaning 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fat. My goal at this point is to gain mass, (bulk) so its a different scenario in terms of HOW MUCH carbs you eat, but nonetheless carbs are important.

Go to MY HOME> GOALS and manually change your macros to what your body says OK, not some internet nonesense that says eating no carbs will make you lose weight!

There are even newer studies coming out saying that Saturated fats are not bad for you:

Hmm bad phrasing lol. If you look at my diary I still consume a hearty amount of saturated fat, though the source of it is a whole matter entirely. Yeah I get where your coming from, in this modern day and age most saturated fats that people generally eat are from bad sources (KFC come to mind anyone?)

Yeah, all those low carb fish and chip shops all over the UK really make it easy to stay on track. Also, pilau rice and naan bread (such a huge part of the British diet) are so very low carb. And let's not forget Yorkshire puds. ;) That's just how we roll, people.

To the OP, if it works for you, keep doing it, but remember our brains need dietary fats to function. Eating fat (within reason) will not make you fat. I have lost quite a bit of weight whilst eating carbs and fat.

Your menu looks fine, only thing I do differently is avoid the protein bars and shakes. I just don't see anything nutritious about them and would rather fill up on food.

You can take a look at my diary if you like. I'm on the same calories (1,200) as you and am close to reaching goal.

The majority of my carbs come from fruit and veg with some harvest grain bread for toast in the morning.

ETA: I did 'treat' myself to an onion bagel for breakfast this morning!
