    My favorite is:

    1 1/2 cup Non-sweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
    1 cup Kale
    1 cup spinach
    1 half of a pear
    1 banana frozen

It's super good! I found the recipe online & it mentioned adding honey. I tried that first and it was of course delicious, but I'm trying to stay away from adding sugars myself, so went without it...and it's still amazingly good.

When I work early mornings I usually take smoothies with me to work. I hardly ever use a recipe, I just use what I have in my fridge. I find that usually start with one banana (the browner it is, the sweeterit tastes!), 4-6 ice cubes, a few tablespoons of yogurt (generally plain, but vanilla if i'm wanting something sweeter), and a handful of spinach. And then add whatever fruit I have. Most fruits will have enough pulp or seeds to mask the texture of greens or oats. I add a little water if it looks thick.

I find that mangos, clementines, oranges, and pineapple pair well together, as do strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.

We make a bunch of different kind of smoothies. We use Greek vanilla yogurt, soy milk, and frozen fruit (instead of ice-cubes). One of our absolute favorites:
    "Banana Split"
    1 fresh Banana
Frozen strawberry/banana/peach or pineapple mix (about 1 cup perhaps)
    1/2 cup vanilla greek yogurt
    1 cup Chocolate soy milk

or for the occasional celebration (today being my birthday)

Banana split as made above - add 1/2 cup BANANA RUM!!!

Happy Birthday! I'll drink to that.

Not a dumb question. I have always used the fresh kind from the produce section.

Make them for my son and husband a lot! Mine are easy peasy:

    frozen banana
frozen strawberries or frozen pineapple or frozen blueberries (none with sugar)
    vanilla low fat yogurt
    water

If i want to make it a bit "heartier", I'll add nonfat milk!

Frozen fruit works great and it lasts a long time in the freezer.

I just had a really yummy one tonight, but it only has banana as a fruit in it. No spinach! Here's what I do:

    1 cup water
    1/8 cup half and half
2 Tbsp Fifty 50 peanut butter (it's sugar free and has half the fat)
1/2 banana (sliced and frozen for at least 2 hours)
1 or 2 scoops of your favorite whey protein powder (I used chocolate)
1 Tbsp sugar free fat free Jello instant banana cream pudding mix

Blend until rich and creamy, then pour and enjoy!

I use 2 scoops of the protein powder when I'm really low on protein for the day.

    Edited to correct a typo.

Great Thread! New to mfp and smoothies. Seems like most smoothies use bananas but I'm highly allergic to them. What can I use instead?

I love smoothies, but I am wondering if there are any that don't have any added sweeteners and that do have spinach incorporated? I would like to get some veggies and fruits if possible, in smoothie form. Thanks for any help!
