I love smoothies, but I am wondering if there are any that don't have any added sweeteners and that do have spinach incorporated? I would like to get some veggies and fruits if possible, in smoothie form. Thanks for any help!

Yep my favorite one, and I use the leftovers to make popcicles and the kids love it!!
1 pineapple cored and cut up
2 banana's
Handful of spinach
Blend in blender add water if needed and enjoy!!0 -
I have never done any with spinach. But I do like making smoothies with plain yogurt, a banana, some milk or juice and either cocoa and peanut butter or whatever other fruit I have that I want to put in. I have recently discovered grinding oats to make oat flour in my blender, and putting some in a smoothie isn't as strange as I thought it would be. Adds a nice texture.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks ladies!! :happy:0

I'm trying the oatmeal thing tonight! Thanks!0

We make a bunch of different kind of smoothies. We use Greek vanilla yogurt, soy milk, and frozen fruit (instead of ice-cubes). One of our absolute favorites:
"Banana Split"
1 fresh Banana
Frozen strawberry/banana/peach or pineapple mix (about 1 cup perhaps)
1/2 cup vanilla greek yogurt
1 cup Chocolate soy milk
or for the occasional celebration (today being my birthday)
Banana split as made above - add 1/2 cup BANANA RUM!!!0 -

If you haven't tried this, you are missing out.
Chocolate Cherry Berry Smoothie
10 fl oz vanilla coconut milk
2 C spinach leaves
1 banana
2 ½ Tbsp cacao or cocoa powder
¾ C frozen blueberries
¾ C frozen cherries
I prefer to use the Cacao (raw form powder) vs. cocoa. MUCH better for you. ENJOY!!0 -
I'd love to see some "green" smoothies also. I'm pretty good at the fruit & yogurt varieties but want to try soem green ones. Any one have a couple of good green recipes?0

This is a great one...
Grandest Green Smoothie
2 lrg bananas
4-5 Kale leaves
1 cup baby spinach
1 green apple
1 tsp. coconut oil
1/2 tsp. spirulina
1 cup water or apple juice0 -
I add spinach or kale to my smoothies all the time - you can't taste it really and it add great nutrition and a serving of veggies!
I make all mine with the same base:
1 cup almond milk
1 frozen banana
1 tsbp chia seeds
2-3 frozen spinach (I buy the huge bag of fresh spinach at Costco and freeze it in smaller bags)
1 scoop protein powder
and then add:
1-2 cups frozen mixed fruit, or
1-2 cups fresh fruit with a couple ice cubes
OR
2 tbsp PB2 (the chocolate PB2 with chocolate protein powder is YUM!)0 -
Spinach tastes sweet to me in almost any smoothie I add it too. Sometimes the color messes with my head if it's a tropical flavor smoothie or something that should look other than green but I really like spinach in shakes. Just remember to blend it completely.0

Today I had one with:
orange
frozen mango chunks
banana
spinach
ground flaxseed
greek yogurt (only 1/2 container)
green tea
Instead of yogurt sometimes I'll use quinoa.0 -
I make one almost every day, either as a post-gym snack or sometimes as breakfast or lunch. Don't be afraid of spinach...just blend the bejesus out of it and you won't know it's there.
As a snack:
ice cubes
1/2 banana (overripe, or frozen)
2 cups baby spinach
3/4 scoop 'vanilla ice cream' NZ whey protein powder
1 tsp flax meal
3/4 cup UVAB (unsweetened vanilla almond breeze)
As a meal:
ice cubes
whole banana
2 cups baby spinach
full scoop 'vanilla ice cream' protein powder
2 tbsp raw rolled oats
2 tsp flax meal
1 cup UVAB (and a little water if needed)
These are the most beautiful shade of bright green!
If I don't have spinach on hand I use strawberries.
If I feel like something chocolately I use chocolate protein powder instead of vanilla but that makes it really ugly (green spinach + brown powder = sludge). haha.0 -
Mine are very simple and very delicious.
-Frozen unsweetened strawberries (about a cup)
-1Banana
-Plain low fat yogurt (about 4 tbsp)
-pineapple juice
^^This makes enough for my boyfriend and I to have a large glass and my daughter to have a small one.0 -
My favorite is:
1 1/2 cup Non-sweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
1 cup Kale
1 cup spinach
1 half of a pear
1 banana frozen
It's super good! I found the recipe online & it mentioned adding honey. I tried that first and it was of course delicious, but I'm trying to stay away from adding sugars myself, so went without it...and it's still amazingly good.0 -
When I work early mornings I usually take smoothies with me to work. I hardly ever use a recipe, I just use what I have in my fridge. I find that usually start with one banana (the browner it is, the sweeterit tastes!), 4-6 ice cubes, a few tablespoons of yogurt (generally plain, but vanilla if i'm wanting something sweeter), and a handful of spinach. And then add whatever fruit I have. Most fruits will have enough pulp or seeds to mask the texture of greens or oats. I add a little water if it looks thick.
I find that mangos, clementines, oranges, and pineapple pair well together, as do strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.0 -
