Legs - How Many Times a Week?

My upper body is beating my lower body in the race to fitness, so I'm thinking about upping the number of times I do legs a week. I was doing twice a week but now I'm thinking of bumping it to 3x a week as long as my legs will allow me.
Just curious about how often people target a certain area like that. Also, I know lunges and squats are the two "best" exercises to get sexy legs, but do you guys have any other suggestions?
Thanks!

I really only do cardio :blushing: I run 3 miles, 4-5 times a week, and I do some bicycling and walking, too, but that's it. Even though I'm only 1/3 to my weightloss goals (I've now lost 9 out of 27 on MFP!!! WOOT WOOT :happy: ) my legs are looking pretty awesome(; they're super toned and flex when I just move them(; actually, you can see my muscles when I'm just standing... so that's nice(;
Actually, I wasn't expecting this when I started running this year, but it's toning my arms, too! I obviously have to hold them up while I'm running so they're starting to get defined and a little more muscular :happy:
Right now that's all I do, but it's working for me! Honestly the biggest reason why I run is how awesome it is to my legs/body(:0 -
I would say it depends on how hard you work your legs out. If you're doing a lot of leg work without weights 3 times a week probably wouldn't be too much however if you use weights -Squats and deadlifts with the barbell, and lunges with dumbells (awesome for working on the legs/reshaping and gaining strength) you probably shouldn't work them more than twice a week/shouldn't be able to- I think I would try doing more intense leg workouts and keep it at twice a week if it were me.0

If you are getting your cardio workouts like with tread, elliptical, bike, etc, for 5 days a week, you really should only do weight resistance training 2 days a week. Your legs need about 3 days between workouts. For myself I work my legs Tue/Fri and upper body Mon/Wed/Thu.0

once
my split:
back/bi
chest/tri
legs
occasionally i will do shoulders, but just a few sets as an add on...............its not about frequency of training, but intensity.
3 hours a week total, a small commitment................0 -
I don stronglifts 5X5 which has me doing squats 3Xs a week. I also run 5-6 times a week. Once I get a leaner I plan on lowering my running to 2-3 times a week. On days when I lift and run, i'll do my cardio in the morning and lift after work in the evening. This gives my body adequate time to recover and my strength session doesn't suffer.
I don't feel overtrained at all and I love the reults Im seeing. I never lift weights 2 days in a row and I give my body a full rest day on Sunday. I have been able to add 5lbs to the weight I lift for each different exercise, every time I go, with no deloads.0
