My office is so divided ... myself and my boss are team Vampire and other are team Zombie. LOL

Team Zombie. I started hating vampires when they started to sparkle.

Or just throw me in with the saints.

OMG - like I needed another reason to  Norman Reedus.

I haven't been able to get into The Walking Dead though... but I've loved zombies since high school. I was one for Halloween too!

STOP whatever you are doing and go watch Boondock Saints...

I do work on being ready for the impending zombie apocalypse as a lifestyle thing. But I'm more into the werewolf side of things when it comes to fandom. Yeah, Vampires don't sparkle... Blood sucking pixies and fairies sparkle.

MLP:FIM has not addressed the issue of rabies. Presumably the unicorns have an adequate health plan. Mostly based on assistance from zebras that speak in rhyme..

First of all, I'm a horror movie FANATIC! If anyone else on here is one, add me and let's talk movies. I'm talking like italian horror, japanese horror, old, new, cult, cheesy, gory stuff...yeah.

Regarding zombies, I think that as a society, we tend to get caught up with ideas and run with them. It happened with Vampires. It happened with werewolves. It happened with mummies. I think the appeal of zombies is that when it comes to horror movie characters, these can actually be a reality. Given the different types of viruses and bacterias in the world, it 's not hard to imagine something mutating beyond treatment and creating a zombie-like version of humanity. That's not counting any man-made viral warfare that could be created and get out of control. If some modern-day plague were to go bezerk, we could possibly end up with a zombie-like creature. Just look at rabbies.

Funny that you mention that zombies could be realistic. I dont know how true this is, but I heard from a friend who has been a semi-reliable source of information, that there is this plant that actually causes some movement in deceased individuals. And that there is a village that uses this plant to move their dead from gravesites that become loosed by the rain and mudslides. Now, I have NO clue how legit this information is, and googling it never worked for me. So I just nod my head to his science major yada yada B.S. and see what he tells me.

On another note, freakn love scary movies, and NOTLD is a classic that everyone should watch. I watch it every October.

I could do a line-by-line reenactment of either the first or second...or both... if you'd like LOL.

I hate this zombie trend...I hate the fact that some people can't seem to make a joke that doesn't involve the "zombie apocalypse"...Just like I can't stand even hearing the name "Chuck Norris" anymore.

Thank you so much! Couldnt have said it better myself!

Try "World War Z" if you're interested in books about the Zombie Apocalypse. It's amazing. Also, The Walking Dead was a super rad comic before it was a TV show. It's really good.

"World War z" came out in 2006.

Yup! WWZ is awesome. They are making a movie out of it, and I hope they don't royally screw it up like they did with the Walking Dead TV show. WD comic is 100x better than the show.

I'm scared of WWZ movie. I am a huge horror movie fan, including all Asian and European horror, but I CANNOT stand movies made from books. It pisses me off every time. "The Shining" is the only exception- because it's Stanley Kubrick :)

My guess is it started when the parody "Pride Prejudice & Zombies" became popular and more 'zombified' classic were put out. Enter in TV shows and voila. Long story short a bunch of teenagers and college students went "omg zombies r awesome lololololol" and threw up on the internet about it and now everyone's cashing in on it now that Twilight's finally dying with the last of its movies.

I didn't mind it even though I didn't care for the books and I don't watch a lot of television, but when every hipster/nerdy/geek site and store started pulling zombie this and zombie that out their *kitten* it was basically beating the proverbial dead horse only now we were expecting it to get up and want brains.

I thought they always have been. I watched the original night of the living dead when I was very young and loved it, there were several other lesser known zombie movies then too. I always watch every zombie movie that comes out, play the zombie video games and read the zombie books too. World War Z is awesome by the way!

I think the current zombie trend happened with the remake of Dawn of the Dead.

I've always been into zombie movies though. But I've always been into most horror movies.

Seconded .. Tried to listen to the audiobook and kept falling asleep .. Then Marvel had to get on the "meat" wagon with the hero zombies ... some things are better off left alive

Interesting...I would (kinda) believe something like that. Actually, one of my favorite "zombie" movies is The Serpent and the Rainbow. It has to do with Haitian voodoo and zombies. In this movie, the people don't actually die, but have the appearance of death, so people think they're zombies (the dead coming to life)...anyhow, they get to that state by eating this plant concoction. Good movie.

...and Night of the Living Dead (60's version)..CLASSIC
