There was a study done that said some people are just born happier!
Science has nicknamed it the "Cuddle Chemical"

Born happy? I think that's bull, no offense to the science. Being positive or being negative is a choice. Each moment we get to choose to be positive or negative. I choose to be positive and this serves me and those around me a whole lot better.

I'm positive about most things unless something really pushes my buttons... People seem to use these message boards to vent sometimes. And they're not there in person to hear anything back from anyone.

Without negative people we wouldn't know how wonderful happiness is I guess!

    You are sooooooooooo right.

I guess people get a kick out of being negative sometimes. Complaining is their idea of fun. Everyone complains though, including myself, it's how much a person complains, for some it's all day every day. Being thankful helps to put us in a more positive frame of mind and makes us feel happier too :)

That's a good question. You would think some people earned a paycheck for being negative and mean because they seem to enjoy it so much.......GOSH!

Believe me, I feel the same way sometimes. Sure I get into crummy moods too but I get irritated with people who are constantly b*tching and moaning about something. And oftentimes the people who are the most negative are whining about something that, in grand scheme of things, isn't a big deal.

This is the biggest reason I can't stand FB anymore. Too many people who say ridiculous crap like "Got a flat tire this morning. FML!" Its like, really, you got a flat tire so *kitten* your life? Be thankful for what you have like your health and your loved ones. Can't stand it. I honestly think some people NEED something to be miserable about. I'm not all sunshine and rainbows but I can't STAND people who b*tch about trivial things. People need to count their blessings.

I hate that FML thing with a passion. You get a FML pass ONLY when something majorly tragic happens. There are reasons behind everything you go through. Going through crap isnt nearly as bad if you do it with a smile on your face and a good attitude

I am also an army wife who deals with everyone else's constant negativity -- I can relate ;).

I don't think people can handle other people being happy, they find it uncomfortable versus their familiar zone of misery. But maybe that's just me being judgey, haha.

I deal with negativity all the time too. I have actually had people tell me I am too happy. There is no reason to be unhappy. Life happens, roll with it. The only time you should be unhappy is when you lose a loved on or friend, your sick, or your dead. Otherwise, put on your big boy/girl panties and deal with it. If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, learn to adapt, but don't bring everyone around you down just because you are down.

well, there is some truth to the born happy thing. I have seen babies that are just happier and easier to deal with and then others are just miserable and require a lot more attention. It takes a while to develop the personality to be positive or negative.

I'm a happy person 99% of the time! I try to find good in the situation, and sometimes I can just have a bad moment but what a waste of time to be negative all the time or unhappy all the time! Happy feels good!
  • I am a happy person most of the time, and almost always look at the bright side of things. I agree that we make the choice of being positive or negative in our day to day life.

But, that being said, I have two young children, one is a positive happy child and the other IS NOT. I am trying really hard to teach the "I never have a good day" child to look at things differently and to react to them in a more positive light.

So I do believe we are born with a disposition of being positive or negative. I do also believe as an adult we can change our natural disposition to a certain extent.
