Do you have any friends on Facebook or other sites who are always posting pictures of their food? What they ate yesterday, what they're about to eat, etc.?

I don't get it. Why do people do this?

I see it on Facebook all the time. It's funny. Sometimes, it gives me an idea to try something I might not have had before.

I have some facebook friends that do that.

I met them through local Animal Rights, Raw Foods, and Local Produce groups. That's their excuse. Their updates always make me so hungry

Are they trying to prove that they're being responsible about their food choices?

I could show you what I ate yesterday but it might require a bit of pushing first...

I have a friend who does that, but he LOVES to cook and Its one thing to take a pic of something you have made at home that's a little special, (he once made a loaf of bread that accidentally looked like a giant turd LOL) but when people take a pic of their crappy lunch every day, I fail to see the point, and have no interest! I have been guilty of posting pics of food here once or twice, but c'mon, its a a health and food site. I'm a mean Facebooker, so I usually tease people about their food pics, However don't get me started on people and their F**King CUP CAKE PICS!

A lot of my FB friends/family do post pix of food they're having at restaurants. It's a good way of spreading the word on great places to eat and dishes they'd recommend. I'm guilty of posting pix of holiday chocolates that I make!

Food is so pretty! So colourful and you can look at it and imagine what it tastes like. I'm proud when I cook something that looks delicious, so I occasionally will post on FB!

My sister is an Epicure consultant and she loves when her customers take pictures of the meals they make using epicure products.

If I eat good looking food which is presented well i'll take a picture of it. If it's a gooey mess then no I won't...

I think it's what everyone is saying. I have two friends that do this a lot. But, their both big time foodies. So, I think they just really love food and want to share that.

Really don't understand why you'd let this anger you imo. X
  • Food porn.
  • ughhh that drives me nuts. i 'd really want to know why people do that. when i'd goto any fancy place for a meal with my friends they would always take the picture of the food(then i started snatching their cameras and cellfones so they stopped doing it when with me lol). i found that so weird.why do they need to show off with the food?

    Guilty.

I don't know why - I love food, I love how it looks, I love cooking. I don't see it as any different to people posting endless pics of their pets or kids or the progress of their bedroom redecoration etc, you post pics of things that are interesting or appealing to you.

I'm not angry. I'm just asking why people do it. :flowerforyou: I've never, ever taken a picture of my food before. Ever.

I post pictures of my food all the time! Whether a restaurant has a beautiful presentation, or I am really proud of a dish I made... cooking is an art, and I love food, so why not?

I am guilty of doing this once in a while. Its a combination of accountability, showing off good creations, and my personal favorite.."This is diet food?" just to prove that healthy eating isn't all twigs and berries.

I stayed at a bed and breakfast for a few nights this week.

You bet I took pictures of the food!!

It was presented so beautifully, it was practically a work of art!

However, I haven't posted them on Facebook but I think I should :D

I don't see why it bothers you... I would love it if more of my friends posted pics of what they're eating (as long as its not like a tuna sandwich or something else boring).

Haha I'm totally guilty. When I travel pretty much all of my Facebook posts are food related. Even when I'm not if I try something new and different (like dragon fruit last week) I take a picture with my phone and up it goes! Basically my Facebook chronicles everything that makes me happy, and a lot of the time that ends up being food. I guess that's why I'm on MFP too. :)

I post pictures of Dinner's that I make.

It gets my friends asking what the recipe is and such. If it gets my friends and family trying new things and getting healthier stuffs in the process I don't see why it should bother anyone. :/

Besides....if they don't like it. They don't have to look.

I don't do it often, but every once in a great blue moon I do! Why not??? Food is soooo full of color and we, as humans, eat with our eyes as much as our stomachs! I would never do it in a restaurant (or a crappy tv dinner)...seems a little gauche, but something that's been home cooked I will! Enjoy the pics and let it give you some recipe ideas!!
  • I am guilty of doing this! I love cooking so I like to take pictures of the dishes that turn out really well. I guess I take of a picture of it because I am proud of it and want to share my success. I also like to hear the opinions of my friends, who else am I going to share recipes with? lol :)

Guilty! 4 of my friends and myself do "girls night" every Thursday and we post pictures of the food we make. We pick out recipes to try and meet at the one girls' house and cook together. We actually have friends on Facebook who look forward to the posts:)
