I dont know....Would you do it??
I remember hearing as a teenager that your own urine was good to drink....
and a women's menses applied to acne was a cure....
And now, folks are eating there placenta....
If this is evolution, why does it sound like regression...IJS, what do you think?

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with evolution or regression.
Anyway, people have been doing this for a long time. It's not new just because some celebrity did it.0 -
I think it's what other mammals do. I saw my cat do it after birthing a litter of 4.0

Saw the guy on Bizarre Foods eat a cows placenta. i think it was a cow....0

Eating placenta is nothing new. I knew about this almost 20 years ago. Some women would make a soup out of their own placenta because it suppose to have some medical benefits from it. Would I do it? No. But I'm not going to knock those who do.0
-
They used to use it in Pantene Shampoo, didn't they? Or was that just a myth.0
-
 Its meant to also make good lawn feed! Still though, you wouldn't wanna bring that home in a doggy bag!0
-
This is too close to cannibalism for me personally, but some cultures have practiced this for centuries and almost all mammals other than humans do this.0
-
Other mammals do it, and sometimes nature teaches the best lessons. I would totally do it. However, it would have it made into capsules...lol...I don't think I could just fry it up.0
-
My cat devoured it.
I always wonder why women aren't driven to eat it. I mean it should be a mammalian instinct.
People drink urine, that is pretty common for animals too.
I saw monkeys doing this at the zoo before. It was pretty natural loo, there were kids their and it was just like looking at nature in action.0 -
This is far more common than you think !! the hormones & nutrients in it are really good for you ! you can now have it encapsule-ated so you dont have to eat it, I have never done it but know people who have, its super common in the area i live in !
it helps with iron levels and postpartum depression especially !!0 -

No, I would not do it. I have heard of it, and agree mammals do eat theirs. However, some of them also eat their young when they die, so I do not think that is a good enough reason. People are created in the image of God, so that makes us different than the animals. I have heard that this helps with ppd and has other health benefits as far as that goes, and it may, I do a lot of things for health, but this isn't one of them! Is is not for me!0

Hmmm that nobody has said "Gross, no way" "are they crazy" is freaking me out here.:noway:0

There are a lot of medical benefits from it. But I can't even bring myself to eat sea food. I don't think I could eat my own placenta. I donated mine for research after my youngest. If the research is someone eating it, well more power to them.0

I disagree. Some people do eat the dead. granted not her young, but I think the same could easily apply.

I actually have 4 placentas in my freezer. But, no you can't have them. ;-)
I planned to bury them and plant a beautiful tree or bush on top..... but I never lived anywhere that I wanted to stay long term. Soooo.... they are in my freezer. LOL0 -
It depends on what kind of placenta you want. I have a lot of friends, family who are farmers... haha0

YES! It's not like chewing on raw placenta. By the time it is ready to be consumed, it looks like a vitamin.0 -
How about the celebrities that do the quirky things, like chew their children's food for them, or start potty training at 2 days old. Takes all kinds to make the world go round.....0

I saw this on the topic post list and I just had to respond with...EW EW EW EW EW!!!!! Seriously want to be sick right now. I was going to snack, but this worked as an appetite suppressant.0

My sister in law had her placenta turned into tablets for her son. It is supposed to help with transitions etc...
At first I was like "what?" but you know what, she researched it and it's supposed to be great.0 -

God is against placenta eating?0 -
FIRST OF ALL:
Mammals do it for a reason, NOT because placenta is necessarily good for them. And that reason is to ward off predators. For example, if a cow has a calf in the field, it does not want to attract predators (wolves/coyotes, etc) that might harm its young, so it ingestes the placenta, which is basically rotting tissue and blood (a predator GOLD MINE). Also take into consideration that once an animal births, it is not going to move very far from that spot as the young are not capable of much travel. So what do you have if you don't eat your placenta? A big, rotting mass that attracts flies, disease, germs etc. festering near your newborns. NOT A GOOD IDEA. So you eat it.
Just because an ANIMAL does something, doesn't mean people should do it too. :noway:0 -
