I used to drink a lot of pepsi, I mean a lot, I could drink a 2 liter by myself. I switched to diet pepsi and drink 2 16 oz a day but I drink a lot of flavored waters now.
  • I am trying to cut down on pop too. My advice is to not limit yourself too much while dieting, unless you are severely overweight. Sometimes if you are too hard on yourself it can end your diet all together. Treat yourself to a Coke once a week. It won't hurt anything. Or maybe try Pepsi Next. It has 60% less sugar and tastes like the real thing.

if you are really craving it drink it. Deprivation is the best way to fail in a diet. Just count the calories.

Every once in awhile I treat my self to an icy COLD Coke! Doesn't get much better than that! (Once in awhile = 2 cokes in a month)

I drink one diet coke a day (20 oz), which for me is a miracle. I was drinking at least a 2 liter of diet coke a day, and decided to cut back. I realized I really felt dehydrated back then and didn't even know it. And now I always crave water but I don't limit myself to no cokes. I just have one and go about my day. Hope this helps!!

I went cold turkey from a 12 pack of diet coke about every other day to nothing. Excruciating headaches! Definitely an addiction. I now drink just one can a day on workdays and I try to get a fountain drink one day on the weekend while I am out and about. It is not so easy to give up soda.....

Switch to Seltzer if you miss the carbonation.

I stopped cold turkey. I have not had any pop since early January. At first I was pissed, but after a couple weeks it got better, all I have now is water.

I agree! If the cravings are that bad then drink one! I limit myself to one soda a day and I am trying to cut them out completely. Good job on cutting soda out. One when you crave it isn't going to hurt.

I gave up drinking soda and any form of carbonated beverages. Its my understanding that the caffeine and carbonation dehydrates you and stimulates your appetite as well. I dont miss it at all.

I used to drink so much pepsi but now drink none. Zero. It is not worth the calories - this was my motivation to stop. It was difficult to quit and I dislike diet colas. For caffeine cravings, which is a of it, I drink a non-fat ice latte (at least there is some nutrition in the milk and you can drink 24 oz for less calorie cost than a 12 oz cola) or a sugar free red bull (only 10 calories but probably toxic in other ways). Or just drink water.

I don't miss the pepsi any more but it took a while. It can be done.

After a few more days the craving really will go away!

I have one maybe once a year now and it used to be all I drank (well, and coffee)

Caffeine withdraw will give you headaches. Most people have to start slow on lower intake of pop.

I used to drink a ton of soft drinks, and it wasn't until I cut them out that I realized how badly they reacted with my acid reflux. I drink flavored water when I get a craving because I don't want to go back to indigestion 24/7!

I used to love Coke Zero. It was the most like Coke. But I stopped drinking diet drinks because the artificial sweeteners made me feel hungry all the time, craving sweets. I went back to regular (which added to weight gain) but now am on either plain water, or kool-aid / countrytime singles (1/2 strength, do 1 packet to 32 oz, not 16.9) or I'll mix 1/4 sweet tea to 3/4 unsweet tea (we southerners love our sweet tea!). My doc says that she has seen a lot of people who are diabetic and hooked on artificial sweeteners that have a big A1c reduction after they get away from a lot of the artificials.
