Calories burned

I am trying to understand why the machine I use at the gym shows different calories burned compared to when I enter it in on my exercise chart on here. The chart on fitness pal shows double to what my machine shows at the gym. I would love to go with the what fitness pal says but I do not want to be cheating myself. Any ideas on how to combat this?

    get a heart rate monitor.
I have a polar ft7 and it tells me exactly how many calories I burn.
I THINK that mfp ovr estimates on a lot of stuff. That being said- I think that mfp take into accoutn your height, weight and age when calculating cals burned, whereas the machine would not do that unless you put that info in.

The machines are just an estimate based on your weight and height. The real measure is different based on your individual ability. You would need a heart rate monitor to be accurate. I was way overestimating my calorie before getting one.
