Running with a big butt...LOL...

OK, so here's what I want to know. I'm new to running and have about (4) 5Ks under my belt (not fast ones mind you) and am training for a new PB on my next 5K on May 12th. I am still very heavy (239lbs) and have lots o' junk in the trunk.

For those of you who started running when you were heavy...what did you wear to keep your butt from "giggling"? I'm not a fan of running shorts so I have been running in cotton yoga-like pants. I think I want tight fitting bottoms for my 5K (I don't think I have to worry about chaffing for only a 5K either).

Can you give me some idea since I have no idea what is out there??

lol....yes it's much harder to run when you are heavier. I myself have gained 10 lbs and I can feel the difference in how much slower i have become. The extra weight definitely jiggles when I run. I suggest you get some capris that are tight fitted ie lycra or spandex type of material. you want it to be snug but also will let you move. Other than that just do a jog for now until you get to a decent weight.

PLEASE dont listen to the advice that says to "jog" .... do your thing girl!
I have done nine half marathons and countless 5Ks and I started running at 276 pounds -- and I am currently about your same weight.

I live and die with my Nike Capris -- usually commando to help decrease the chafing issues.
I also found a pain of Moving Comfort pants that are really ... ummm firm and binding. Sports bra wise I go with Moving Comfort Fiona and usually tank tops!

Get a pair of spanks two sizes smaller then the legging that you'll be wearing or a girtle and it should hold you tightly together.

I'm about to get some compression pants. there are many brands and prices for them, but I won't invest until I lose a bit more. I'm at 230 down from 300 pounds so I'm looking to get these. hope this helps :) oh, but right now, I just run in my yoga pants (walmart)

Nike, Reebok, and Fila make great running capris. They keep everything confined without being too tight and they also absorb sweat. Good luck with running and don't give up on it :)

jogging is just a slower pace of running...the original poster can run of course I'm just sayin you have less chances of body parts jiggling around

I like Adidas capri tights. You can always wear loose shorts over them if you're self conscience but I noticed they're the best ones for

    A. Staying up!
    B. Covering the FUPA
    C. not giving you camel toe

Oh good god I'd die if I wore a girdle underneath my tights.

Old Navy Compression yoga pants, capris, and shorts. Cheap & smnooths it all out! Good luck. I love runnning - the jiggle motivates me to run more. I can't wait until I can run without a jiggle!

I run and my butt still jiggles and I don't worry about what others think. I just tell myself that if they are so interested in watching my butt do it's thing I must be doing something right. :) Wear what's comfortable for you.

She's not going to a prom here, she's running! I can't believe you'd be ale to breath in spanx 2 sizes too small, let alone run.

Look for some running tights that have Lycra in to hold things steady, and if you aren't confident running in public with only skin tight Lycra covering your behind, look at a running skirt to go over the top - sportskirts or running skirts do cool ones, some have built in capris.
Oh, another word of advice - if you aren't covering up with a skirt, DON'T wear a g-string under your tights, wear something that covers your bum. It's really not a good look from behind to see a g string line.

I am obsessed with running skirts. I have tons of short ones and now I have one that has 3/4 capri leggings underneath. Totally cute.

I like running capris to help with the bouncing and rubbing as well as Hanes athletic type underwear. Part of it is finding a pace/stride length/cadence that bounces it just right to keep from being annoying. Sounds strange but it works for me.

Compression or high Lycra content capris are what I use - Lucy has really great ones. Buy black so you can't see your sweat marks on your behind (not the most attractive thing for people to look at). Just remember everyone's booty jiggles unless you're the 1% that has "buns of steel". Keep it up!

I first off want to say that You Rock and who cares what giggles, someone else is crapping their pants out there. Everyone has something going on!
I wear the running skirt with capris from a company called estrogen. I bought a Xxl and they fit great.i am happy to say I just bought a new pair because running has really help me drop weight quick. They are a little pricy, but well worth it for the cover up! Good luck

So glad I found this. I just recently started jogging. After the first jog, I told my husband that I needed to invest in a good sports bra for my butt. LOL!
