When wanting to lose fat and tone muscle is it better to do more reps with a lighter weight or less reps with a heavier weight.

correct - less reps but more weight is for bulking up/building muscles, less weight more reps help tone and tighten

Choose weights that work to "failure" in 8-12 reps, or 6-10 if you want to go heavier. The "lighter weight/more reps" idea is an outdated concept that is not particularly effective.

    Wrong.

This is a mis-conception, that many people, especially women are afraid of.
Women will not BULK UP or GET BIG muscles by lifting more heavier weights.
