Do you have a HRM? That would be easiest otherwise I would use maybe high intensity aerobis? Plyo is a lot of jumping up and down. It really gets the heartrate up =)

without an HRM you can log it as "aerobics, high impact" That is pretty much what it is.

I use the same thing for all my P90X workouts, which is "Calisthenics (pushups, sit-ups), vigorous effort" and then just put in the time of the workout. Today I did shoulders/arms and that is definitely much more of just a weight-lifting workout, but I'm not TOO particular about it.

I'm just now setting up myfitnesspal profile. So i've put in all of the info and it's given me a daily calorie intake of 1200 calories. How do I tweak that to match up with the p90x plan of 2400 cal/day? It just doesn't seem possible to lose weight by eating twice as many calories as indicated by MFP.

You would lose as long as 2400 is under your maintenance. If you maintenance excluding exercise is say 2200/day, then you burn 600 from P90X your maintenance would be 2800, so you would lose eating the 2400, that being said you may burn less and on the rest day may eat above maintenance. I would suggest setting your goal to lose 1lb/week and eat back the cals you burn, if that puts you over 2400, just stick with the 2400.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast. One more question. Just starting out I'm in Phase 1 - Level 2 according to my weight. As I lose weight, do I then move down to Level 1, which would mean less calories? (Maybe I should finish reading my books- HAHA)

I beleive so, as the less you weigh the less calories you need, so if you lose enough weight you will stop losing at 2400 cals.
  • I have a HRM and I go to "Cardiovascular", at the bottom I select "Create a Custom Exercise", since P90X isn't in the list, then add my activity name: "P90X - Plyometrics", duration (approx 60 minutes), and log the calories burned. I now have an entry for each dvd that I can quickly select.

    Eazy Peezy. :-)

That might be pretty accurate. I use a HRT that sometimes loses the hrt so it stops reading cal burn and I am usually around 700+ after I do plyo. With pure cardio and cardio abs I can go over 1000. You really get your hrt going with Insanity

haha, all good, Insanity is craaaazy, kudos to anyone who is doing it, I wanna focus on p90x and possibly switch over to that after,
or i was thinking of also subsituting the kenpo X and Cardio on p90x for an insanity workout.

I did this workout for the first time yesterday! I did about 30 days of Lean back in January (got P90X for Christmas) so Plyo was never a part of the program, but I did do it because I splurged and had a bag of gummi bears yesterday and really wanted to get a tough workout in for penance. There were times when I felt like I was going to DIE...I was like omg, I can't do anymorreeee...but I kept going and I finished it! That has to be one of the best feelings, when you make it through a tough workout like that. I will definitely do this workout again!

Also, yesterday was my weigh-in morning and I weighed in at 134.8 -- this morning, somehow I jumped down to 133.3! I highly believe that this workout had something to do with it!
