Has anyone ever been so hungry that they have woke up? I go to bed hungry, a lot. Most of the time I sleep through it but not last night. Woke up at 1:30 am wtih a splitting headache and grumbly tummy. :grumble:
I ate something but I didn't want to. Counted it with my breakfast.
Does this happen to anyone else?

Something's wrong. I'm seldom hungry and I've never (while dieting) woke up starving. Make sure that the foods you are eating have adequate satiety.

I know if I eat right before I go to bed when I wake up in the morning I am super hungry but I've never awakened because of it.0
-
yes i have ate a small bowl of oatmeal...not alot of calories and its something hot to put in my stomach to help me sleep0
-
Yes. I didn't think I was that hungry when I fell asleep but I guess I didn't eat enough of my exercise calories back.0
-
i make sure i have a good snack in the evening. Most often its an apple with peanut butter, which keeps me satisfied until breakfast, which is often an hour after i get up.0

I wake up every morning at 4:15 a.m. starving too, my metabolism is on fire. Every three hours like clockwork my stomach rumbles. I think it's a good thing as long as you feed it good food0

Funny thing, I used to do this occasionally before I started MFP, when I would eat whatever junk I wanted. I don't like the idea of going to bed hungry most nights. Are you sure you're eating enough calories and getting enough nutrition?0

Why are you going to bed hungry every night? That strikes me as odd. Are you eating enough during the day?0

Well, I thought that I was. I always eat my exercise calories back. I'm 5'8" tall, 45 years old, pretty active, and I'm eating about 1,390 cal. a day. More when I exercise. I do Jazzercise about 4-5 times a week, walk about 1 or 2 times a week, yoga once a week. I stay at home with kids, so I am up and down all day. Not just sitting around.0 -

It's not every night (but most). I go to bed hungry because there is nothing left to eat. I've gone through all my calories (1,390) by 7:00 pm. Bedtime is around 10:00 pm. Exercise days are better because I get to eat more! I can spread out my calories better.0 -

Thank you!! I will check into the link.0 -
I wake up STARVING all the time!! I usually chug a glass of water (gatorade if Iv'e got a headache) and go back to bed. If that doesn't work....I eat a few animal cookies. Not the best idea, but they're low in calories. The crunch makes me feel satisfied....& I count it in breakfast. Good luck sleeping thru the night :drinker:0

Yes, this does happen to me, not all the time but frequently enough. I usually get a piece of fruit and head back to bed. But, after reading so many nutritionally-based posts here I am thinking that I am just not eating enough throughout the day.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!0 -
Yes, and i eat a unrippen banana and all goes away.0

Wow for a one year old, you are quite adept with language and the computer. LOL Cute photo. I seiously doubt you will go back to that size. LOL Just kidding0

up your cals for the day. your body is telling you something.....0
-
I only woke up hungry in the middle of the night when I was pregnant0
-
I never wake up hungry because I usually eat before bed. I can't stand going to bed hungry.0
-
This is my life, I usually just drink some water and go back to sleep because I'm way to lazy to get out of bed or anything except peeing.0

Don't go to bed hungry!!!! There is nothing wrong with eating before bed if it is within your calories and macros. Why not try drinking a protein shake before bed (I do this because I workout super late) or cottage cheese before bed. Cottage cheese breaks up slowly in your body (I do not know all of the scientific talk) but it is a good thing to eat before bed.0

You are not eating enough! 1390 and that active? I would be starving too! Eat back your exercise calories! Up your calories. Feed your body.0

Oh, this does not sound good to me. I understand waking up hungry after a good night's sleep, but not at 1:30 am after going to bed at 10. At minimum I would suggest a snack just before bedtime, but you may want to look at allowing yourself more calories as you may require more than MFP suggests. :flowerforyou:0

Eat more. I refuse to go to bed hungry. Also, are you eating enough protein?0
-
Drink more water! That has really helped me. I use to be the same way. Stress also makes me wake up hungry...so the nights that i am stressed i eat a high protein snack before bed.0

I don't think that I am! Probably too many carbs as well. It went better last night. I am working on changing things.0 -

I do eat my exercise calories back! Those are the best days for me. I think it is the quality of food that I am eating. I'm working on adding more protein and less carbs. Thanks!!0 -

Thank you for the advice!! I will try cottage cheese.0 -
THANKS EVERYONE!! Last night went a lot better. It was a no exercise day. I ate 1,390 calories again. Cut back on carbs and ate mostly fruit, veggies and protein. Went to bed early at 9:00 pm and slept until 4:30 am. But I'm not up because I'm hungry, just woke up early. Last time I ate before bed was at 5:30 pm. I didn't snack before bed because I wasn't hungry and I didn't have any calories left. Again, thanks so much for all your advice! I really appreciate it. :flowerforyou:0

I defuse to go to bed hungry!! As a matter of fact every night before bed I always have a small bowl of cereal..If I don't I can't sleep..0

You need to up your calories. You're close to your goal weight and if you're going to bed hungry your body is telling you to eat more! What's your weight loss set as per week?0
