I'm asking for tools (or Sears gift cards) for my birthdays and Christmas'. I hate having to borrow tools from my dad when I need them so I'm starting my own collection. And I don't mean those cheap pink crappy tools that have very little of what you really need. I want craftsmen. The good stuff. I was raised in a "do it yourself" kind of family and although I'm no Mike Holmes, I can do a lot of my own small repairs with little or no help.
I do however need a tool box to put the ones I already have in. Better add that to the list lol.

But if that is not something you would need or use, how about a manicure/pedicure gift card? Or a deep tissure massage for all the hard work you've been putting in to lose weight? I would like to get one of those myself.

That is so wrong. One Christmas my Dad and his wife bought me jelly and pancake mix. I'm still confused by it.

i say if your worried your mom won't come through with what ya want. ask dad for the same thing. :)

worst case you have two, or 1 of what you want and something to return to get what ya want.

If you think he'll spend that much, I'd totally go for a Kindle Fire! Two of my friends have them and they're so fun!

How about a Trampoline Jogger, also known as a rebounder? Fabulous way to exercise! I have read that just ten minutes jumping on one with increase your immune cell activity considerably, for several hours! That also means it gets your circulation going and your lymph circulating!

Maybe a Stability ball? Great for improving core strength!

Google "Exercise DVD's", and you'll probably find in-home exercise programs, that you can do at odd times or when you can't get to the gym.

If he lives near you, how about ask for a father-daughter walking day every week for the next year? Both of you will benefit from the exercise, and you will get some nice talking time!

My birthday was recently, and I got a couple of neat items from www.globalgirlfriends.com. They provide a marketing platform for handicrafts made by poverty-stricken women around the world. They have some interesting, items, too, and best of all, these aren't slaves to some corporation, taking advantage of their desperation! All items they make are paid for at fair trade wages!

    Happy Birthday!

You guys are awesome! Thanks so much. We don't live near each other but I'll be home this weekend. I ended up asking for a family bbq! And I also mentioned that I'd like a tablet (just an inexpensive non-brand name android one) so we'll see! Either way I have a good feeling about this birthday, lots of family time and a new HRM! I've been waiting forever for one! Woo! And perhaps a new tablet too! Yay!

And thanks guys for the birthday wishes!

Happy Birthday! Love the idea of a family BBQ!

I never had trouble figuring out what to ask my Dad for - he's fine with giving me gift certificates or even just sending me a check if I can't some up with something specific. It's ideas for Mom and Bro that I have trouble with because they usually get me something together and Bro has a thing about wanting to get me something tangible.

Had Dad get me new running shoes this year. Bro happened to purchase a Blu-Ray player that he decided he didn't need so he asked if that would be ok to give me for my b-day. We don't really need a new DVD play but I figured since I couldn't come up with anything it would do. Hubby hasn't asked me what I want so it'll be a surprise.
