I understand what BMR is, but can someone explain why I need to know what my BMR is and what I do with the information?

Since your BMR is the amount of calories your body burns with no help from you being active, that is how many calories it needs in one day. Not eating your BMR can severely slow down your metabolism because your body goes into starvation mode from not having enough fuel.0

BMR is how many calories your body burns each day to just be alive. Knowing that information, you can figure out how many calories to eat in order to lose or gain weight. Less you eat, more you lose.
And starvation mode is not a concern to any of us who aren't literally starving to death.0 -
It's generally a good idea not to eat below your BMR. While "starvation mode" is a wildly misapplied term, the slow down in metabolism from under eating is real.0

OK. So my BMR is 1,570 and I am eating 1,200 calories a day and work out about 4-5 times a week burning about 400-600 calories, but I make sure NOT to eat those burned calories. Any suggestions?0

If your losing weight doing this diet, go for it if not you may be in plantea and your body will need more calories. I am on 1200 but should be on 1400-1500 calories0
