I'm really confused as to how many calories I should be having left over at the end of the day in order to lose weight. That's including my excercise. I'm 150 and my bmr is 1400. I want to lose 1.5/wk
Goal Food: 1400(bmr)
Food consumed: 1440
Excercise: 712
Net: 728
Remaining: 672
What is the one number or area that I need to focus on to loose weight?
I know that 3500cal=1lb. So that's 500/day
So do I need to eat back 212calories to have burned 500?

You've broken the MFP calculation by setting your goal at your BMR, so we don't know what your target would have been.
If you want to lose 1.5 per week (is this reasonable ? how much to lose ?) you need a deficit of 750 per day.
That is eat 750 less than you expend.
So if you expend 1700 plus 712 of exercise = 2412
and subtract 750
you need to eat 1662
but the "1700" is my estimate.0 -
How do I find my target? Sorry, I meant lose 1lb/wk0

It'll tell you something like :-
Calories Burned
From Normal Daily Activity 2,070 calories/day
Net Calories Consumed*
Your Daily Goal 900 calories/ day
Daily Calorie Deficit 1,170 calories
Projected Weight Loss 2.3 lbs/ week0 -
Thanks. I think I have it figured out. I just need to have my remaining calories be at 500 to lose 1lb/wk. so I can still eat 208cal!0

can you stick the number up for completeness. The 500 is built into the goal MFP sets, if you then eat what you've exercised you have a 500 deficit and are on track so there should be nothing left if you use MFP's goal.0

I was wondering about that because under my goals, my daily calorie is set at 2020 but then it calculated it at 1520 (so yeah, 500 deficit was already calculated). So your saying eat back all my calories burned thru excercise?0

You are overthinking this. MFP has laid it out for you.
You don't need to have any left - you eat until the "Remaining" is zero.0 -

That's it. Exactly.
MFP sets the goals assuming no "formal" exercise, based on activity level throughout the week. So if you burn another 200 cals with exercise you can eat them and maintain the original weight loss goal. If you enter the 200 cals in MFP as exercise it automagically increases your calorie goal for food accordingly.0
