Press ups and crunches

I've just done my first day of 30DS but I really struggle to do even one press up, and I struggle with basic crunches as well in that I always feel the strain in my neck. I know that means I'm not doing it correctly - is there a knack to this or is it just something that you get better at over time?

I struggled at first too! :) Maybe try modified push-ups, (keep your knees on the ground as you do them). I tried that for a few weeks and as my muscles built I grew stronger enough to do the full ones.

You shouldn't feel much strain in your neck during crunches, I know this sounds silly an obvious, but try focusing on your stomach rather than getting yourself up off the ground (if that makes sense). There's some great you tube clips that give tips with visuals too!
    good luck!

With crunches try to look up at the ceiling above you and not look forward. If you put your hands behind your head to support your neck then keep your elbows back so that you cant see them. That will prevent you from from pulling your head. With pushups have your knees on the floor and move your hands closer to your knees. Once you get stronger move your hands out more untill your body is straight.
