Hearing the birds sing in the morning and lying on a secluded beach just listening to the sea with my eyes closed.
  • The 'puppy dog eyes' I get from my 4 yr. old daughter even though I know she's just trying to manipulate dear old dad.

    Oh, soooo many things ....

    The smell of coffee.
My granddaughter sleeping on my chest.
    Finishing a long run.
Hearing my favorite song at the moment on the radio.
The smell of freshly mowed grass.

    Stuff like that.

Lying on the grass in my yard (property I own) and watching the clouds while I hear my son laugh while playing with the dog. Usually this is interrupt by 25lbs of almost 3 year old jumping on my chest and yelling "dogpile!" which coincidentally, also makes me smile.

I think I need to print this out so I can refer to it whenever I am contemplating child abuse... it helps to be reminded that, sometimes, he can be quite cute.

This past weekend, I did a bike ride with two friends that I don't get together with very often. We rode to a small mountain town. The sky was blue, the creek was flowing and the temperature was perfect, both in the flats and in the mountains. In the small town, we sat in the sun outside the little cafe/general store drinking coffee and chatting before heading back down into town. That makes me smile and feel like everything is good.

^^ This. and, corny as it is, knowing that when i look up at the moon, that someone, even though really far away, is seeing the exact same moon. it just comforts me somehow.
