When you know you won't meet your goal

As someone who did weight watchers i am used to have 'weekly points' i was wondering if anyone counts their calories on a weekly basis as well. If you have extras left maybe save them for another day. or do you just start each day over

I take each day one day at a time. I have my good days, my bad days, and my great days; but I refuse to let myself over compensate or try and force myself to under compensate because of the day before, in terms of calories.

If I have a bad food day then i excercise to try and make up for what I did the day before.

I've read that it's better to think of one's calorie intake on a weekly rather than daily basis. If I overeat one day I try to make up for it the next. If I undereat, I don't make up for it, because the likelihood of my exceeding my calorie threshold is greater than my failing to meet it.

I go day by day but I don't think it would hurt to count calories by the week.

I try to meet goal every day, but when I spike (and it happens a lot), I just try to even out for my week. Within reason, of course.

where I think this "use the lefotovers" theory works best is for special occasions. If I know I have a birthday party on saturday or I'm going out to eat for something special, or a ballgame or something of that sort. I'll try to be really good and skim a few off the top, or workout a little harder heading into that event so I can enjoy myself and not feel guilty the whole time.

Yeah. There are those who treat it as a weekly goal rather than daily. It can help you keep from plateauing. It is called the zig zag method. You eat at least yor bmr each day but go over your goal one day and under on others. It keeps your body from getting used to a specific caloric intake.
