To everyone who eats and buys hummus!

I make some mean homemade hummus. Nothing comes close. When I make it, I must make mass loads as it gets inhaled. I have people asking me if they can buy it.

So I propose to you. How many of you wished you could buy homemade hummus instead of the store bought, and are too lazy to make it yourself? If you could get a tub of about 2 cups for 5 to 6 dollars, and be able to special request flavors that you'd like, would you?

And if so, where would you be willing to buy it at if you saw it?

I love homemade anything! I tend to also purchase organic, and if it's organic & homemade even better!

Thanks for the input! I figured on advertising that I use all fresh bought local, organic ingredients and listing the farms each one comes from on the website/packaging.

We also just make our own but that sounds like a great idea. Check out local farmer markets to see if you can set up a booth.

This is a great idea, we love our local farmers market! On Thursdays when we can, we have supper while walking around. We have some amazing vendors.

I just discovered how easy it is to make. To be completely honest, I will never buy hummus again.

I don't care where I get my hummus, but it would be nice to request flavors, I guess. I wouldn't buy from a home operation though because I don't know if you adhere to federal sanitation standards. Do you have insurance? All it takes is one person getting food poisoning (or claiming to) and you're ruined.

    Sounds like a great idea.

Until you find out that the health dept. is going to require you to have a commercial kitchen to make and package it in.

We have our central market downtown in which people are making things and selling them right there. They don't have commercial kitchens at home to do this. I do know that there will be hoops I'll have to jump through, and I know that there will be a local interest in it in my area, as buying from your neighbor is all the rage. However I was curious how the general population outside of my city felt about it.

    Thanks for the input.
