Breastfeeding. How many calories should be burned?

I am nursing my 4 month old infant. I nurse on demand and exclusively. I plan to nurse him his entire first year and longer if he wants to. However, I began a low-carb diet and I actually felt my milk decrease and he was very fussy. So I went back to my regular diet. I do not want to compromise my son's food supply but I also want to lose weight. I am also not blessed with losing weight when nursing a baby...never have in the past with my other children.
Since MFP does not allow for nursing mothers...how many calories should I account for? Thank you

in the "food journal" type in breastfeeding and you'll get option for added calories.0

It's around 300-500 calories per day if nursing exclusively. Wife and I will be working on diet/routine in around 6 weeks when she is recovered and able to work out again, so will hopefully have a lot more insight into getting back in shape from pregnancy and diet/exercise while nursing in a few months.0
