For the first time I am using a perdometer and joined an 8 week challenge. Have to walk every day 12.000 steps, which is not always easy, even if I am on my feet all day. Just got back from a 2 hour walk and stil missing 2.000 steps :ohwell: . Anyone using one and how many steps do you usually take a day? And how do you achieve that your goal?

    Hi
I walk between 8-9 thousand steps/day. I find it difficult since I am doing schoolwork all day. I have to remind my self to get up and walk every hour or so fro 15-20 minutes. Hope this helps.

Move around while you're standing in place, on the phone, jog in place, dance, etc.
  • HI, I used to use a pedometer and my daughter got me introduced to a fitbit, I love it! I think it's much better than the pedometer for me because I want to see my progress. Go online and check them out, it works along with myfitnesspal.

I use a pedometer daily with a goal of 10,000 steps. I simply put it on in the morning and record what I've achieved the following morning on the calendar. I usually don't have much trouble reaching that with just my everyday activities unless it's the weekend and I'm sleeping in, doing a lot of reading or other stationary activities. I try and take short walks more frequently and find that it adds up quicker than if I set out on a two hour walk (I don't have that kind of time available). I sometimes walk with a partner who also wears a pedometer. I can really beat myself up if I don't meet my 10,000 steps per day.
My problem is not knowing how to convert that steps to "exercise taken" for myfitnesspal. Any suggestions?
