Getting smaller.....

Anybody having a problem finding cuter clothes the smaller you get? When I was plus size the clothes weren't that great. When I got into "normal" sizes, the clothes I found were very cute, in abundance, and great to buy. Now that I'm smaller than "normal" it seems I can't find any of my sizes. Shirts/sweaters/sweatshirts are never a problem. I always see small-xxl and for shorts that come in those sizes i usually see, too. It's jeans, pants, and shorts. I have to go on a scavenger hunt. Tonight I was at Kohl's(my heaven on earth) and I went through and for once, found shorts after shorts. Besides tonight, have you had problems. I am just wondering if I'm the only one.

I imagine that clothing manufacturers simply produce mostly "normal" sized clothes because that's what most people are going to buy. They don't focus as much on clothes at either extreme (well, "extreme" being a relative term here) because there are fewer people to purchase them. You might try going to the store, trying on several brands and noting down the size you wear in each (more important for jeans/pants since each brand is cut differently), then try to find things you like online where there are a lot more options.0

We don't have Kohl's in Canada, but I know exactly what you mean! Certain styles for certain body types and certain sizes... I am really finding sometimes certain styles don't look great or just don't fit if you're muscular, i.e.) small waist + muscular legs.0

I do my clothes shopping for the most part at Goodwill and Salvation army. And I find some pretty cute things there, the normal stores for clothes seem to either be picked clean of the size I need (didn't matter what size I was in, they never had it), to expensive for me to afford, or just plain ugly.
Now that I'm a smaller size though I find myself drawn to simple designs and skirts (I never would willingly wear a skirt or dress before hand now I want to).
I agree with ZugTheMegasau about the manufactures producing mostly "normal" sized clothes, it's a supply and demand thing - they have to look at it as a money maker, no make everyone happy. Also most definitely check the different brands, one brands large could be another ones small.0 -
im not sure what size you are but i dont seem to have a problem... even when i was a size 5-6 seems like i had better luck finding those sizes then the bigger girl sizes that im in now (10-11)... i do however have a hard time finding shirts that are long enough im big cheasted and have a long midsection, so i always have problems with shirts being to short. i like to shop at kohls but also really like JC Penney's0

ive fit in two but mostly 4. im bigger chested too so with the back fat gone, medium are fitting me finally. i always get like 10 pairs of something, usually pick 5 of them(explained to hubby tonight for 20 minutes why all the clothes dont fit the same since he says he doesnt have to try on clothes because his do). the ones out of the ten that fit/i like, usually get whittled down because i just look weird, to myself, in them. i am muscular now that ive lost my weight and finding 10-14s were no problem at all, everything was cute. but the lower, the slimmer the pickins, haha.0

Until I gained this darn 30lbs I'm trying to get rid of, I was sz 2/4 or XS/S all my adult life. It is EXTREMELY difficult to find anything in under a sz 4/6 in the average lower priced retail shops for the most part. I can tell you that places like Macy's, Dress Barn, TJ Maxx and other mid priced to high end shops do. But, as far as places like Walmart, Meijer, their choices are very limited, and you better get there before the one whole size 4 they put on the rack is seized! LOL When I did grab it, there'll be no doubt some tailoring for length will be going on! Because of my height, I am luckily able to fit into some of the fashions from Korea/Japan found on eBay- very cute, and decently priced, but made for person's under say 5'4".
Since I've been into an 8/Medium, I've had the same problem- it's a common size, but so many others wear this size, you can't wait til next week to buy- it;ll be gone! I found this out with the first choice bathing suit I had picked. Waited a week, all the Mediums were gone0
