So has anyone ever gone on a Low Carb diet and than became extremely gassy? I decided a few days ago to reduce my intake on carbs because they really are out of control and since than I poop more often and been farting up a storm. It's kind of embarrassing because I have to try and hide it at work (LOL lovely). Anyone know why reducing carbs will cause me to become some gassy?

It could also be the increase in protein and fiber b/c you are not getting as many carbs...

I hear what you are saying...

    and FYI...everyone Poops....and Farts!!!!!

Yes, but I believe it was the type of protein shakes. Are you supplementing with shakes? Also, I remember pure protein bars are really bad for me.
  • I supplement one shake a day, usually drink it when I eat a salad. I don't really like nutrition bars which is kind of why I been slipping here and there. I hadn't found in between snacks to keep me filled up. I did just by lancer peanuts as a snack though. I think it's the up in my protein to be honest. I was low in protein before. I am not bloated or anything. I actually feel healthier but thats also because I reduced my soda intake finally. My body never knew healthy eating that lasted more than a day so I think it's rebelling.

I have been experiencing the same thing too. As I eat more protein and fiber and less carbs, especially if I have a smoothie with protein powder in it, I am so musical in the evening, it is ridiculous!!

I am getting used to it, thank go I live alone LOL

It is what it is sista!! LOL haha low carbing has been known to have that effect, however I have found a pretty comfy carb to protein ratio that has dramatically reduced the issue. Good luck!! If nothing else, get ya some Bean-o!!

If you are eating sugar free products sweetened with sugar alcohols that will do it.

Completely off topic, but your profile picture has made my day! :flowerforyou:

If you up your protein and fiber, that's gonna happen. Especially protein, I've found.

Also, eating supplements with sugar alcohols in them is definitely a good way to get some raunchy, something-died-in-your-@ss gas going on.

    Or so I've heard.

Also could be from eating stuff like broc, cauliflower and other veggies. I don't seem to be any worse than usual. In fact, I think I have less gas than when I ate grains. Still poop normally but I eat a lot of fiber and fat so I seem to be as regular as ever.

Gas-ex strips. Buy them, use them. You can stash them in your purse discretely - they freshen your breath and keep other parts from being unfresh! :blushing:
