So I am FINALLY getting P90X. I'm going to order it tonight, I think. I am super excited.

Howeeevver... I know it's a muscle building program.. should I get to my goal weight before I do this? I've got about 15 more pounds to lose. I'm 5'0 so that 15 lbs definatly shows, lol. What do y'all think?

  • First, congratulations on your successes so far and for making the best fitness decision you've ever made. Don't wait. Order it RIGHT NOW! First, it takes a couple of weeks for Beachbody to ship the order, so you have that much time to continue whatever you're doing now. The real question is if you are adequately fit to start the program, and I honestly think that just about everyone interested in a really challenging program can do it, even if you start with just resistance bands or no weights at all.

P90X is most assuredly a muscle buildin plan, but remember that the more muscle you have, the easier it is for your body to burn fat. This is the perfect time for you to get started. If you're looking to lose 15 more pounds, building more lean muscle tissue will really help you do it more easily, and P90X is a great way to get there. Congrats again on your choice! :drinker:
  • Just do it!! Is going to help you with your weight goal, I did it and now I'm doing insanity and you'll see changes in your body but not too much on the scale just take your measurements and a photo and you'll see the difference... I love the beachbody programs and my fav. is INSANITY!
    Good luck!!!

That's really awesome to hear! Thanks so much guys! I love a challenge and pushing myself, so either way I'm gonna do it, lol.
  • Yes, order it! I started it when I had no muscles and 20 pounds to loose. I did the workouts and followed the diet plan using myfitnesspal to make sure I was hitting my target carb/fat/protein ratios recommended by P90X. 10 pounds melted off easily in the first 60 days. We had to take a break from the workouts for a few months, but we just started it again and I am so excited to see what happens when I do a full 90 days of the program. The DVDs are so good about giving alternative moves when you can't do the more advanced things like pull ups. You can also do the "Lean" version which has more cardio workouts than the "Classic" version which is more muscle building workouts.

You can start off doing the Lean program instead of Classic or Doubles as the Lean program focuses more on cardio rather than strength training. Btw most women will not build very much muscle in three months, especially on a calorie deficit so you shouldn't worry about gaining a lot of muscle. P90x will probably help you lose those 15 pounds faster and gain a lot of body strength all over. :flowerforyou:
