first 5k

Saturday April 28th i ran my first 5k, which is a HUGE accomplisment for me. Through out my entire childhood on into my adult years id never push myself to even jog a full mile and i jogged 3.1 miles straight in 33mins 34secs. not fast, i know, but i was still sooo proud of myself! for anyone who keeps telling themselves 'im not a runner, i cant run' its complete crap. unless you have a medical problem you can totally do it, if you really want it, its possible. its not easy, but it gives you the most amazing feeling of accomplishment of any exercise ive ever done.
a little bit about me....i had my daughter in dec 2009, gained 74lbs leaving my weight after giving birth at 259lbs!! im now currently hovering in the 160's.
this was me at my heaviest
this is one of my fav progress pics so far, ive actually started feeling good enough about myself to wear cute clothes:)
this was me last weekend at my first 5k with my husbands lovely cousin april(she's been a wonderful inspiration throughout this entire journey)
and this is just a pic that i found on the events web page of right when the race started, im on the far right in yellow
ive got a ways to go but im happy with my success thus far. ive had a few slip ups but im trying to keep my head in the right place. this is a life long struggle but im taking it day by day:)

Your story is inspiring! I just had my first baby at age 38 and I am now trying to work on getting off the baby fat plus the weight that has come on with age and neglect of my health. I have often started the training for a 5K but have never finished. Now is the time! Thanks for sharing your story.0
