Ladies - best locale for an HRM?

I've started to wear my Nike HRM during my workouts, but I'm getting some very odd numbers. In the middle of a full blown workout, I'm only registering a heartbeat of 41, but during my cool down it's 128.
I suspect my HRM is moving around too much, or not making the best contact. If I make it any tighter, I can't breathe, so that's not really an option. I've tried pre-wetting the contacts and wearing it in the middle, to the left and to the right. Still getting wonky readings.
I'm wear the strap under the band of my bra. Is this the best place for it, or should I wear it above the girls? I also wonder if having very big girls smothers the signal to the watch. :blushing: Is this even possible? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks.

Hey, i dont know much about your hrm but i have the polar ft7 and ive had the same issues with it. It will spike then drop at random times. When i contacted customer support about it, they informed me it needs to be cleaned really well-like every workout, or every other workout. I was cleaning it, but i wasnt cleaning it extremely well. Also, i found that if you disconnect the front connector piece, that helps too.0

I've always worn it right under my bra as well. If you think it's tight enough to were it's not slipping then maybe you need some new batteries. I would change out the batteries and see if that helps to fix the problem.0

Both great suggestions! Thanks so much!0

I had that problem a couple of times with my Polar, and I wear it in the same place that you do. I followed someone else's suggestion and washed it in the washing machine (in a wash bag), and so far haven't had that problem again. I think it probably needs a good cleaning. Good luck!0

I have this problem too - and I washed mine, with soap and a dish brush, LOL - it seems to be working better now.
I'm going to keep an eye on this thread in case there are some other ideas.
(I never thought about wearing it above my boobs, LMAO!)0 -
I wear mine right under my bra as well and it seems to work just fine It does feel a little strange at first but after a few times you'll get used to it!0

try switching arms for the watch and keep the chest strap under your bra, I have that issue to with the girls smothering the hrm but once i adjust it in the correct postions and make sure it's just a little snug it works. I always take off the connector as soon as im done also. hope this helps0

bump for future advice.0

I have the plye and mine seem to jump to the 200's and I think it is not registering right also.0

Just below your bra.
Your bra should not be covering your HRM.0 -
I do the same, under the bra. at first i was afraid to put it in the washing machine thinking it would mess up, but i do it like 1 week and have had no problems. just make sure it is tight too.0

Could your bra be pushing it around that has happened to me when the reading went funky my bra was riding up underneath my strap. Had to switch to a better sports bra with no underwires.0

Bump for later reference.0

I have the PFT7. I wear it above my bra line, right in the middle of the girls. Seems to work fine. However, as suggested above, keeping it clean will help as well.0

I use mine frequently and find that I need to wash it at least 2 times/week in the machine (I put it in a small mesh laundry bag to keep it from tangling around other things). It does give funky readings if it doesn't get tossed in the machine. I want to say I've heard to use a vinegar wash too...but I'm not 100% on that one.0 -
I have Polar FT4. Wear the strap right under my bra with the sensor right in the middle. Be sure to keep the strap clean - I throw mine in the washing machine on cold and air dry once a week. Also run the contacts under water and get them WET before you put it on. This contact with the skin is what sends your heart rate to the sensor. I also have had to shorten my strap as I've lost weight. It should feel as tight as your bra strap. Good luck0

I wear my New Balance N4 just under the girls and under my bra - the only time I had wonky readings was when the battery needed to be replaced in the strap. Changed it out and haven't had a problem since!0

I also had this problem with my Polar FT7 after about 4 months of use. I also washed the strap in the washing machine but this did not correct the problem. Turns out I needed a new battery for the heart rate sensor.0

I just completed a Polar Training seminar and you "CAN" wear the chest strap backwards. This should help the problem of "the girls" getting in the way. They also now make a sports bra, which you use instead of the strap.0

I have the polar ft4 and wear the band right below my bra strap. I tried it above and it hurt my arms with rubbing when I ran. Mine works very well but the contacts have to be wet when I put it on.0
