Think Big, dream big!

I started my journey on January 1st 2009. I was sick and tired of being fat and felt it was time to do something about it. I started out somewhere around 255lbs.
Working hard in the gym and watching calories I started seeing changes. This picture was taken in 2010.
2010 to present I have read everything I can get my hands on the topics of nutrition, exercise, and health and put this knowledge to use. Current pics.....
I post this not as a shout out to me, but to give hope to others. Yesterday, after years of having symptoms, I discovered my testosterone levels were less than that of an average 90 year old man, or around 200ng/dl. My point is, if you want something bad enough, if you work hard enough and work smart enough, you can overcome large obstacles. Never think about how bad you have it, how hard it is for you. Focus on the dream, visualize yourself reaching your goal and be relentless in your pursuit of it. The one thing I have learned in my journey, your greatest obstacle is yourself. Never underestimate the power of a positive mind. For if you think it and dream it, your body will have no choice but to follow.

Nice transformation! I'm trying to get there myself, can you recommend some literature/exercises/foods for a guy who is currently about at your half way point? I'm 5"11 and 201 lbs. I look ok with my shirt on but am seeing only minimal progress with my abs and mid-section in general0

Thanks Scott! Think long term. The mid section will come in time as fat is lost. The biggest thing to remember is its not a race but a life change. You can find some links and info on my profile that should help you out.0 -

My first friend on MFP was the KING! I hope he is my last.

Thanks for posting this 4TK, You're a great coach and guide for many of us.
I think many of us forget that we didn't get fat or overweight over night, so why do we believe we can reverse the process over night too? This post gives me the chance to settle back into running a marathon at a marathon pace rather then trying to sprint the whole dang thing.0 -
Well done, amazing transformation, and beautiful message about believing and achieving!

J - I think we need more pictures!!! *wink* (calender shots anyone??)
You are a legend. FO SHO! I'm so glad you "rescued" me from the "must eat clean all the time to lose weight" nonsense. You piped into some thread I posted and because of that - I found a new way to lose weight and stay sane. I will forever be grateful for YOU! You dedicate so much time to helping others on here while maintaining a family, job, loony bin (err, chickens?!), and you CRUSH your workouts (and your fiber, hot damn!). I don't know how you do it! You are DA MAN!
I love watching your progress and it truly does give me hope that I will one day achieve my dreams of being a hot chick with big moosles! Thank you for believing in me - even when I sometimes don't believe in myself. You have been such an inspiration to MFP - and you will continue to dominate that body of yours into PURE SUBMISSION BABYYYY! :drinker: (err, that's protein fluff I'm holding up, yeah, that's it!)0 -
The real deal right here. Living, preaching and growing by example! Thank you for your leadership in the Health and weightloss field! A true test of passion and knowledge is the testimony of your life. Blessed to know you!!0

You were one of my first MFP friends. I thank you for setting examples beyond 'normal' . Your progress has been inspiring, to say the least!! I have learned a LOT these past few months, watching you, asking questions that you so patiently and kindly responded to, and my WANT for fitness is growing all the time! You've set the bar of dedication WAYYY up there, sir! Your knowledge, your strength, your experience....and your willingness to help and guide others.......gives me hope! You believed in me on a day I found myself hearing the :ohwell: 'old messages' of 225 pounds!! :frown: I will forever, be thankful for your place in my journey!
Bottom line.... YOU ROCK!! Keep on bustin it!! I need ya!! A LOT of us need you!! (ummm...maybe not so close when you ingest those mountains of FIBER)
Watching for the next level~ I know you're bringin it!!0 -
Nice job! Those abs look pretty darn good0
-
Thanks for sharing Jason. You're doing a great job and helping others. WTG!0

I love your attitude. And your results are inspiring. You look great! Thanks for your input on my post, too!0
-
Wow great results!0

Just wondering, were you always really strong or did it only come recently? Or just steady progress over that time? Some of the weights you lift are just crazy man!0

Hey Chris! When I first started lifting I was terribly weak but that was years ago. I was always fat but did have some muscle from years of on again off again lifting. I remember the first time I benched 135lbs....I thought I had arrived lol
For the most part, just steady progression over time and finding the workout and recovery time I needed to see results. Too many times people try to rush it and either workout too long or too much.0 -
Thanks mate
I'd actually be happy to bench 135lbs with my current shoulder issues
Might have to give this MaxOT stuff a go while I'm on holidays I think. Hit up the gym once a week maybe. Have to catch up on the methodology though It's clearly working for you though!0
