Which is the better animal?

Cow certainly offers more - tenderloin, prime rib, strip, ribeye and all the other cuts of steak, the ever versatile ground beef, veal...

Pig may not have as much, but does anything beat bacon? And ham is a pretty strong second offering. Pork chops are pretty solid too.

You can do ribs from both, so is that a wash?

So what say you? Pig or cow?

I'm going with pig................................nothing like real chicharone (fried pork skins).
Also never heard of "Mad Pig" disease.

Agreed. No question bacon is the #1, but to me the various cuts of steak all neutralize the bacon + pork chop combo. Ham? A great alternative, but just can't beat out ground beef in my opinion (we won't even talk about the nastitness that is ground pork.

So its cow, by a nose... or a hoof?

I think veal is a different category.

Man. That's tough. On the one hand, bacon is tops. Number one. BUT that's really the only cut of pork I like. Cow on the other hand...I effing love me some steak, beef ribs, hamburgers, beef tartare, the list goes on and on...

I'm an ethical carnivore. 35 years of *not* eating factory farmed meat.

So, pig, cow, either is fine as long as you know your farmer. And I got made fun of for stating this at lunch today but it's true--grass fed beef has HALF the fat of factory farmed.

I love slow roasted beef brisket...... and I love pulled pork sandwiches...... I love any kind of steak.......... but I also love bacon!

The only thing that beef has on pork is that you can eat close to raw (blue or rare).... but GODDAMMIT pork can be so tender when fully cooked, lol.

cows are really sweet (and how can you not love their fuzzy noses!?) but pigs would definitely be the better house pet.
