License to ill changed my life. I recall as a teen hearing that tape and being awestruck at how amazing they were. I still listen to that CD all the time. Very innovative bunch

    RIP MCA

I grew up with the Beastie Boys.
They changed music and were a huge influence on my musical tastes.

His music will live on and will take me back to my younger days when I was just discovering music.
It will always make me happy.

    RIP, MCA.

    Oh my god, it's a mirage. I'm tellin' y'all - it's sabotage.

They weren't my particular thang either, but the hubby LOVED them and they were iconic and from what I saw of interviews truly just great human beings.

Sad. The Beasties (along with Run DMC) have helped me push out that extra mile, or kick it up on the home stretch of a long workout many times....great old-school stuff !

Levon Helm (The Band, anyone?) recently succumbed to cancer, too. They were both wonderful, and they definitely made the world of music a brighter place.

No word of a lie, while subbing Phys. Ed today I played Freeze Dance with a grade 1 class and a little boy came up and asked, "Do you have any Beastie Boys on that playlist?" He was soo disappointed when I said no (the ipod belonged to their teacher, if it was mine, he would not have been let down!) I didn't even know at the time about MCA's passing, I just heard it on the radio on the way home!

  • My Favorite Beastie Boys Song......Do IT....From ILLCommunication. These cats were from an era when rap music was all about the music.......when the sound and the lyrics could be felt by the masses. Them days is gone...RIP MCA.

    Me too.
I am still sad about this.... loved them since I was 14. I'm 41 now. Long time love affair....

Last time I saw them play was 2007 in a small lounge in Montreal... it was the first time my husband saw them live, and I was pregnant with my twins. It was awesome, and I am so glad they got to see/hear/experience them - but I am so sad I'll never see them again...

    Sweet sleep MCA. Namaste. xo
