I'm old and fat. It has been a while since I could cut my own toenails without a big struggle. But today I did! Eleven weeks on MFP and 9 lbs lost (a lot off my belly) and I was able to bend over and reach my toes. *red in the face & embarrassed* It's a biggie to me.

I think it's important to get excited about little things like that! So here's to be able to paint your toe nails next time :drinker:0

I agree with cannonsky. I was thrilled when it became easier to paint my toenails/shave my legs/tie my shoes/etc...0

Awesome NSV!!0

One of my first NSVs was being able to tie my shoes without holding my breath, so I totally understand! Awesome job, and keep up the good work!!0

Hey, I've been there. I had a miserable time cutting my toenails when I first started... I won't say it is super easy now but it is much more doable... I used to wear velcro shoes simply because they were easier to fasten and I did not get out of breath tying them... Now I wear mostly laces (though I still like velcro shoes.. just don't own any right now)... Congrats... Really this IS a biggie.0

That's when I knew it was time to do something; when I stopped breathing while I bent over to tie my shoes, paint my toenails etc. It's the little things like that that I notice and smile. Not many people would understand the little victories.0

Fantastic - i know what you mean ( it was one of my wake up calls). well done on the hard work.0

My mom is in that same kind of place, so I can sort of relate. Congratulations and here's to many more NSVs, both small and big! :drinker:0

Ok, I'll show my ignorance and go ahead and ask... what does "nsv" stand for? :blushing:
And I don't think that's a small thing at all! I was sitting in the chair in my living room today and thinking to myself I'll sure be glad when I can sit in a chair and it not look like I'm half reclining just because I'm so fat I can't sit back all the way in the chair! Anyone else know what I'm talking about?0 -
That is NOTHING to be embarrassed about! Any victory, no matter how small, is STILL a victory! Congrats and keep up the good work!0
-
I definatly know what you mean. There was a time i could not put my leg over another leg to put on my socks. I had to put my feet on a chair. Now i can bend my legs and put on my socks. I think all these little steps keep us going. This nsv is the first of many. Today i went to get dressed and saw this pair of brown pants in my closet and thought hmm lets see if they fit. They did they are a 22, I was wearing a 26. My 24's were getting lose so it figures .0

Great NSV (non-scale victory)! I wouldn't laugh at all.. My first NSV was not struggling to do the (reach around) technique in the bathroom. LOL if ya know what I mean. Little things like that can be bigger victories than the scale because you actually feel the changes in those little achievements. When things used to be a struggle and no longer are, thats when you know how much healthier you are becoming! Great Job, keep it up!0

yeah go you0

Fabulous!!!!0

I hear ya.... when I first clued in that I was crossing my legs more and not getting uncomfortable... that got me excited.
My uncle use to tell us to cut your toenails over the toilet so you flush the cut off parts down the drain. Just an FYI!0 -
That is a HUGE NSV! Congratulations; this will be the first of many!0
-
that is wonderful. i've lost 11 lbs and NOTHING has budged LOL.. it's nice to see milestones!!!0
