I am having a bit of trouble figuring out how much I am supposed to eat. If I don't exercise, it's easy...I just eat my total calories. I am trying to get more exercise in though, and I thought that meant I am supposed to eat until I NET 1330 (what I am supposed to eat to lose weight without exercise). That seemed logical, but the other day we went on a long hike and I burned 1100 calories. Even after eating a lot, I only net 300. After eating more at night I had still only net somewhere between 700-900. It seems to net 1330 somedays I would have to spend the entire day eating or just not exercise, so I feel I must be doing something wrong? Can anyone help me figure this out and understand it better?

That does sound like a very long and arduous hike to burn 1100. If that is rare, then I would not worry about eating it all back, but some, sure. Not exercising at all is not a great idea in my opinion. Slows down your metabolism and can make it harder to lose in the long run. Try and find a balance, eat enough to have the energy you need to get through you day.
