Well it's Friday, March 30th, 2012... For today's Friday Rant I would like to talk about Crazy people. Chances are if you are one you won't know you are one.
I lost a friend today and I have to tell you a little backstory about it. Good friend of mine that I met from here. We talked about a lot of stuff, she eventually quit Myfitnesspal because she said no one liked her here. We still kept in contact via text and emails. Anyways we talked a lot about different things, and I always tried to encourage her to stay living healthy and etc. She constantly talked about how she was ugly and no one liked her. I told her that wasn't true multiple times. She'd always ask me things like, if you weren't married would you date me or sleep with me. I always just ignored the question as I didn't feel it was a good question to answer, it always slowly made me distance myself from the person. My wife and I do have our share of problems but I didn't need this becoming another one. Anyways last night I get a text and it's just a huge rant about how no one finds her attractive she is worthless and fat and ugly.
I texted back to her and told her to do something about it if she feels that way. To quit feeling sorry for herself, and use that as motivation to fuel a change. We as people can change our attitudes and body. We just have to work at it. Regardless she got pretty nasty after I said that. To the point I had to block the text number and my email from the person. Just wanted to rant because she was a really cool friend, but sometimes if you are going to ask people a question be prepared to get an honest answer.
Which brings me to my next point. She would constantly tell me I'm being fake for wanting to have a body that is healthy, fit, and I WILL have some solid muscles when its all said and done. She has me semi-doubting myself on this, does it make a person fake for wanting to not be average but to push themselves past the average joe?
Well that is it for my rant. Crazy people, please don't hate me. I'm one of you guys as well! I think.. Well I might not be... Do you ever really know if you are crazy?

You know I had to laugh a little about your old friend. Like you, I know a few people that have certain issues and body complexes. Hell, even when I was 195 pounds I wouldn't take my shirt off at the beach, but that's another story for another time. When people tell me there self concious about there body image I provide solid advice. You can make the change slowley, it won't be easy but if you want it bad enough you can do it. You are definately not trying to be fake, we all want to be healthy especially for our spouse and kids. I give you credit for trying to help a friend, but some people are beyond help. My friend constantly complains about being heavy, i've tried to help her, now I just tell her she's not going to lose weight or get healthy by stuffing her pie hole with crap! It sounds mean but after so many years of hearing the same thing sometime tough love is the only answer.

Watch out, crazy people are contagious. I only found that out after having to forcibly distance myself from my "crazy family" ... more like my ex-boyfriend, his family and our old friends... People like that can have you doubting yourself in even the most basic of ways. Boy, once you get out of the crazy smoke circle, you realize how wacky it really is. When you're in it, you have no idea!
There is nothing fake about wanting to be the best YOU that you can be. You know that.
I commend you for not letting this destructive person negatively influence your life (and especially your marriage!). It takes courage sometimes to recognize negative people in your life and distance yourself from them. Sometimes you love those people, but you have to make a hard choice to cut them out for your own good.
Do not let that negativity seep into your mind, just keep your eyes on the prize and go for it!
We're all here to cheer you on. :drinker:

Thanks for the words. I wish her the best but I agree, they can really bring you down.0

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be better. She's freakin' nuts; don't worry about it (unless she knows where you live...)0

Thankfully nooooppeeee. BTW, very nice progress man!0 -
Some people just need a splash of cold water in their faces. Don't let that kinda talk bring you down! Way to stop the situation. I know so many people who have negativity in their lives, but it's their fault for letting it be there!0

Had to go back to read this topic. I noticed she is back on the boards a lurking.0

Wow we are all a little crazy but some people seriously are more than crazy! For whatever reason they need attention which is what is sounds like she was wanting! You did the right thing in telling her to change herself if she was unhappy or whatever!! and there is nothing wrong with not wanting to be the average Joe I don't think anyone wants to be average, that is way we have all these things to change they way we look! ! People like her you just need to be block! You seem to be doing great and I am sure she was just jealous!0 -
From a clinical standpoint the crazy never know they're crazy. Which in her case is rather true and she was beginning to be toxic on you and to your defense you need to focus more on your problems and goals than the mass amount of "holy crap" she's trying to create for you or get you to focus on her instead. I had a similar friend and after I ended our friendship she got drunk for the first time and, on Facebook no less, declared that it was for me.
You can't fix what doesn't want to be fixed, all you can do is wish them the best and get the hell out of dodge.0
