For me the proudest moment was just yesterday morning when I ran 20 minutes straight. It was only 1.45 miles, but I did not stop during that 20 minutes. And when you think that I could not run 20 feet before without having to stop that's a real accomplishment.

Running for 20 minutes (or at all lol) is a HUGE goal for me. I absolutely can not wait to go jogging.

I was actually looking at Victoria's Secret before I came on here because I can fit into their sexy clothes now....

My husband considers that a great success:devil: :blushing:

Ah now you have gone and spoiled his surprise!!:ohwell:

K...........I am in awe of you running for 20 min straight!! :smooched:

arewethereyet, you can do it too!!! The Couch to 5K is amazing, it brings you on very slowly. Now granted I run SLOW. :) But this program really works.

I tried............twice. The first time I had a severe sprain to my calf muscle and was out of commission for 10 days.

The second time I worked my way up and actually ran an entire mile. It was a dream come true, until the knees went the next day. I could NOT go down stairs at all for a week, and it was 10 days AGAIN until I could work out.

I think it was because I didnt follow the program, I worked my way up on my own.

    Something to think about:flowerforyou:

Thanks Jeannie! This is a great thread!

The accomplishments I am proud of:

Obviously having lost 135 lbs in 16 months to reach my goal weight in January.

Finding out I was pregnant the same week I reached my goal weight and not using pregnancy as an excuse to go back to old ways. :drinker: In fact, I kept myself as active and healthy as possible throughout the pregnancy.

Getting my heart rate to a very healthy level..bordering on athletic. Wow! That is an unreal one to me.

One of the biggest reasons for starting this new lifestyle was to be able to say I do whatever I need to do to keep myself around for my children as long as possible.

Getting to a point that I love to exercise. This "Taking it easy" post partum stage is hard for me because I want to get back to working out well..but I am being smart and giving myself time to properly heal from my surgery, etc..which is another lesson to learn! Taking care of yourself is also knowing the gym will be there and trusting yourself and having the confidence to know you will be in there as soon as it is best to go.

Twelve pounds may not sound like a lot and I have a way to go. I am SUCH a HAPPIER person today than I was less than 2 months ago though. My husband and I were talking about that the other night. I felt so angry and frustrated with myself at the weight I was. I felt so old and unsexy, regardless of my husband constantly trying in vain to assure me.

Today I feel more attractive. I LIKE trying on clothes, especially those that have't fit in about 3 years! My blood pressure is back down into the low/normal range. I don't hesitant to run around with my kids at the park or chase a fresbie. My husband and I, who have always enjoyed each other, are as good or better than we've ever been together. Lovin' that! :blushing:

I just want to STAY inspired and KEEP losing. I'm nearing my old "normal, before babies", weight. I feel GREAT about it. It also makes me a little nervous. Can I get past it? I pray I do. I read your stories and I re-read my "why I want to lose weight" over and over.

I love this thread!! It is so good to go back and look at how much has changed in such a short time.

I lost 20 pounds over the summer so I hadn't seen my classmates in 2 months. When I came back, everyone told me how good I looked. One of my friends told me that she had been with a group of attractive guys in our class and they were all talking about how good I looked now  Always good to get the attention of the opposite sex!

 I recently ran 2.2 miles in 20 minutes. Before I started this journey I couldn't even run a block without feeling like dying.
 Fitting in old clothes and enjoying buying new ones
 Feeling confident and like I can find that soul mate I keep looking for
 Inspiring others to get fit and healthy
 Not being controlled by food. Before I would think about food ALL the time and it was all terrible too. Now I like going to the grocery and cooking new things (esp. veggies!)
 Having a "skinny" day instead of a "fat" day where I can slip on that pair of tight jeans and not be worried about showing off a muffin top or some plumbers crack!
 Making new friends because I am so much happier now

I've had many great successes since I started losing weight but the one that suprised me recently was a bit silly but i'm proud of it anyway.

I had a stupid argument with my boyfriend the other day and i drove to the shop afterwards and in the car i was saying "thats it i'm getting whatever i want". But in the shop i realised i didn't want to eat the rubbish food i always used to comfort myself with and only came out with a very small 100kcal bar of chocolate - which didn't even take me over my calories for the day.

It's silly but i am so proud of my will power and knowing that this is a lifestyle change and not just a diet.

I am so proud of myself. Today I rode a 50Km bike ride.

I am also proud of losing all the weight I have lost.

  • Like others have posted I am starting to see myself as attractive and am becomming more confident. I never really saw that in myself before
 I have lost 67 pounds which I never thought would be possible.
 I always thought it was too hard to stick to the strict diets and counting calories was just too complicated  Now it is just second nature. I am not intimidated by it anymore.
 I can run up the stairs without being winded
 the biggest thing is I actually make time to exercise. I still don't like it much, but I don't hide from it like I used to

    Thanks Jeannie! Wonderful post

    Great post!

I think my biggest accomplishment happened last night. My daughter and I are doing the c25k program. She is a couple weeks ahead of me at week 8. I was at week 6 day 2 last night which is a 10 min run, 3 min. walk, 10 min. run. Amy was a little way ahead of me but eventually I caught up with her without trying. As I got even with her I thought to myself, "I can pass her if I want to". Instead since I was feeling so good and not all that breathless, I decided to keep pace with her and see if I could run the same amount of time as her. Well, I did! I ran a total of 28 minutes without stopping! I felt so good I could have run an extra 2 minutes to make it a 30 minute but I didn't. I guess I'll save that for the next run day.

I used to couldn't run to catch a bus or walk up a flight of stairs without getting completely out of breath. I'll be 56 in November and plan on running my first 5k in Seattle the same month. I'm so thankful I found this website and thankful for the wonderful, supportive people who post on here. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
