I looked up a whole bunch of motivation quotes, posters etc. on pinterest a while back and now some of those come to mind when I don't feel motivated. Mostly though, you just have to suck it up and not lay down. Or find a different time of day to exercise.

You either want to change or you don't. Which is it?

    Just do it.

I had a friend who convinced me to go to Zumba class with her. I sat in the parking lot and came up with a million other things I could be doing, but I went in anyway. I have been going consistantly since mid Jan.

You have to decide if it's important enough to you. Once you get in the habit, you will honestly miss the days you can't exercise.

Challenge yourself to workout for 5 days/week for the next 4 weeks. After the challenge see how you feel. Perhaps if you feel better after working out, you'll want to continue. I get aggravated if I don't get 5 days a week at the gym.
Find a friend that can go with you to keep you accountable.
    Good Luck!

What tips are you tempted to lay down?

    Knowing would be helpful.

I had one of those mornings today. So you know what I did? I lay down on the couch, let the cat get on top of me, and we took a nap. Now I'm eating lunch and poking around here, and then I'm going to go exercise. To mess up an idiom, I ate my cake, and now I'm gonna have some too.

Facing similar problem. I condition my mind throughout the day to work out after getting back home. I succeed sometimes and fail miserably the others and feel frustrated. Its just too much of procrastination and inertia holding back. Don't want to sound like a weak-willed person. But that is something that I am going through for sometime now.

I had to put it on my calendar. it's the only way I would actually commit. and for me, it helps to do it first thing in the morning or i make up excuses and other things to do. so just do it.

    "Make progress, not excuses"

I love this quote...sometimes when I'm feeling lazy and think about it, I wish I never read it because it forces me to exercise when it's the last thing I feel like doing!!

Thanks.... I needed that. The computer was sucking me in and waylaying my plans for the treadmill and a busy day ahead. Amazing how quickly a computer can suck your will to live.

    Anyway, Thanks.

Resistence is one of those things it is there in the beginning. In your mind you see how hard it is to get dressed, get in your car and go to the gym. This is what holds you back.

Instead, when your mind starts telling you how much you don't want to get ready, put on the workout clothes that make you feel and look your best. Tell yourself I will just do 20 minutes and if I still feel super tired I can leave and it is ok.

But the funny thing is once you get there and do your 20 minutes the endorphins kick in and guess what? you will want to do more, and if you push through that resistance for 30 days then your mind and body will align and you will have set a new habit, and we all know habits are hard to break:-) especially when we start to feel better, and see results.

And if you fall off the wagon..instead of beating yourself up about it, forgive set a small goal and get right back on.

This really is true. My dad used to run marathons, and I used to run cross-country, and he used to tell me there's days when you just don't feel like it, but just put on your shoes and jog 1 mile-- 9 times out of 10 you'll want to keep going, and if 1 mile is all you can do, well, at least you did that.

Adjust it to your level of fitness, I realize some people would be like JUST DO 1 MILE are you kidding me?? In that case put on your shoes and go around the block once. Same idea.

When I get home from work, I put on my workout clothes. Then I wear them until I work out - usually after the baby is in bed. It works really well to get me to work out and hey, I change my clothes when I get home anyway! So, instead of putting on my jammies, I put on my workout stuff.

You are not alone...I go through it too!!! I think it is the disadvantage of working out at the end of the day - you have to motivate yourself to wo after facing all the events and tasks of the day. Yes, I know the logical solution is to wo in the morning, but that isn't going to happen, so I will have to decide do I want this bad enough to find my motivation! A wo buddy really helps too!

To the OP...all the advise given makes sense and I would concur with finding something you like to do, then it won't be another task on your list; it will be something to look forward to!!
